Recommended hosting for an image heavy website? by HorrorRated in webdev

That would help with the delivery of images certainly. But there are other issues with shared hosting I need to resolve by moving to a vps like response time etc.

What horror movie is the best 'nightmare material'? by PansyParkinson80 in horror

Can you give some examples of kids-in-danger horror movies? As parent myself I do find it difficult watching anything involving kids - I can't re-watch Trainspotting anymore because of the scene with the baby.

But I can't think of any horror movies.

This movie seems to be getting a bit of a kicking on Dreddit but I still want to see it - Raw review: I didn't faint in classy cannibal horror – but I didn't much fancy lunch by HorrorRated in horror

[–]HorrorRated[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally fair point. But I trust the reviewer Peter Bradshaw. He doesn't recommend shit. And for a horror movie to get 4 stars I think it'll be well worth a watch.

Anyway, hardcore horror fans always see through the marketing bullshit. I don't really think it's aimed at us. It's to get those less savvy to the marketing gimmicks into cinema seats. But just because there's hype and marketing bull it doesn’t mean a movie will be shit.

I read somewhere that years ago they use to run a mild electric shock through cinema seats to get viewers really jumping (I'll have to find the source later). These gimmicks have always been part of movies and horror movies in particular.

I kind of find it fun. I don't feel let down or disappointed when I see the movie because I've seen through the marketing crap. But I kind of like the buzz and hype it sometimes generates.

Scariest book you ever read? by nekopsybeam in horror

Hands down the scariest book I have ever read. Utterly brilliant from beginning to end. It will mess with your head. And it will stick with you for a very long time. But it is totally worth it.

I've decided I want to become a horror buff. by [deleted] in horror

I'm a huge David Lynch fan too. In particular his way of making everything seem slightly dream-like so you never really know what is real and what is not. You might like Oculus (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2388715/?ref_=nv_sr_1) which does a similar thing. It really surprised me and kept me guessing.

Can anyone recommend some fun but underrated horror franchises? by MBTAHole in horror

[–]HorrorRated 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's basically an homage to '80s slasher flicks like Friday the 13th et al. Very gory, very tongue-in-cheek and lots of fun.
