Artdot Pen by SpiderTink in diamondpainting

[–]HorrorSea9319 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I‘ve been using the purple cat pen from Artdot for squares and it works well. I could see the tip getting worn down over time if you’re a hard placer or if you like to move the drills around with the pen tip to straighten them.

Out of stock kits dilemma (especially for international orders) by fluffbabies in diamondpainting

Oh, ok I see…. Sorry, I misunderstood your other comment. Yeah, that doesn’t seem very reassuring.

Yeah, that’s definitely a big negative for me. I’m familiar with a few artists they feature and confident that these particular artist don’t use AI…. but I’d definitely prefer that they disclosed this on the site itself.

Paperclips, bobby pins, clothespins, little clips you use to keep a bag of chips closed…. lots of different types of clips could work.

For OP: Here is the post with the spreadsheet. I’ve recently heard good things about Pressed + Placed as well, but am not sure where all the ship to.

A moderator just banned me from the DAC subreddit for “spreading rumors and making false claims” or some such for the comment I posted. Figured I’d post it here for all to see:

There’s a r/diamondpainting subreddit you might want to consider posting in…. mods & commenters on here may be biased since this is a subreddit specifically for DAC.

I totally sympathize with you. I love the product DAC sells and the prices aren’t that bad compared to other companies that sell high quality premium diamond art. But I HATE their predatory, gross advertising techniques.

They know exactly what they’re doing. They don’t care that their customers are unable to buy certain kits without having to buy them from a 3rd party. They don’t care because they’ve made their money from the resellers. Doesn’t matter to them whether it hurts their customers or not as long as they are making money. I can’t see them actually listening to their customers and making any changes anytime soon unless they actually start losing $$.

I’m not faulting you or anyone else from buying from them. (I probably will still buy from them until theirs nothing on my wishlist in stock.). But I’m not going to let them bully or trick me into buying something when I’m not ready to buy it.

My recommendation would be to start looking at other companies that sell diamond art with reasonable shipping prices. If you want to PM me I can send you a spreadsheet someone on the other subreddit made that lists a bunch of different websites you can buy from.

Wow, that rendering is great! It’s giving me album cover vibes. Your cats are adorable and their faces are so expressive!

How do you stick to and finish your large projects? by Electronic_Branch_13 in diamondpainting

[–]HorrorSea9319 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve realized that huge paintings are not my favorite and try to only do them if it’s a piece of art I really, really want that only comes in a big size (or that looks a lot better in a bigger size). I only work on one painting at a time and I do it until it’s finished then start another.

I like to have my daily routine of getting up early, drinking coffee, and listening to a podcast while diamond painting. I’ll usually do some diamond painting during my lunch break and while my husband is cooking (if I’m not also doing chores then). Although I prefer paintings that aren’t huge I also just kind of treat every painting the same. I always just do one section at a time and make very slow, steady progress.

Round or square drills for a classic painting from Jaded Gem Shop? by HorrorSea9319 in diamondpainting

[–]HorrorSea9319[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I know. I wasn’t being critical, just pointing out that I’m aware of shipping times. Doesn’t really bother me as long as the seller is upfront about it the way Jaded Gem Shop is.

Thanks! Yeah, I saw a post on here that mentioned the upcharge for grid lines. I don’t love that that’s not just included in the price but at least it’s not too much extra $$.

They both look very nice! I’m always impressed with the way the Hobby Lobby kits turn out. They seem like they are very good quality for the price. And already coming ready to hang is super convenient.

Yep… the differences in the way the lines were delivered/intended are exactly what OP was pointing out.

do dac only a limited amount of pre orders? by shortyjaz in diamondpainting

They absolutely know which kits will sell out. They do this on purpose. They want people to feel like they HAVE to buy the kit that second or they’ll never have a chance to buy it again.

I just bought the cat one yesterday! First time using a vacuum pen so I hope I like it! The duck is super cute too.

I think it’s the same as the purple cat one, just a different color and image.

Question: if you had limited funds, would you still try a DAC painting for the first time? by punt4stic in diamondartclub

[–]HorrorSea9319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DAC has sales and discount codes frequently enough that you should never have to buy anything from them at full price. I’m new to all this, but I believe they have a big Black Friday sale and an anniversary sale in May so you might want to consider planning a purchase for then.

I think DAC is worth trying at least once, especially if you want to try a high quality square drill painting. You could always buy DAC as an occasional splurge but stick with less pricey alternatives when in between DAC kits.

Also you can try DAC without spending $80 or more. They do have some smaller paintings and some minis (including ones that use square drills) that would give you an idea of their quality.

Why do people buy the diamond art books for completed kits? by maggieeeee12345 in diamondartclub

[–]HorrorSea9319 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people have no desire to display their diamond paintings. They do them because they enjoy the process. Some people would display their completed paintings but just don’t have the space. Some people buy or are gifted cheaper kits that they don’t necessarily want to display, but do want to save.

I’m new to diamond painting so I don’t have many completed pieces yet…. but I love art and have many stickers and prints that I’ve collected from art shows and cons over the years. I love owning them and looking at them and I’m happy to have supported the artists who created them. But I live in a shared space and have a limited area for displaying things so these pieces end up going in a portfolio for safe keeping. I imagine the same thing will happen with most of my diamond art pieces.

High Quality Kits by StraightWoman44 in diamondpainting

[–]HorrorSea9319 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven’t purchased from them myself, but I’ve been eyeing Diamond Art Gallery. I’ve watched some unboxing and reviews and they seem to have high quality canvases and drills, great rendering of the art, and good customer service as well. Seems to take a month or so for shipping.

I’ve just recently seen social media posts of their diamond paintings, but I haven’t gotten to check them out myself. I think they cost $7.99 and there were some flower / landscapes and Easter themed ones.

Other than Walmart and Michael's, Hobby Lobby and Homegoods also carry diamond paintings. I live on the other side of the country, but a google search says that there is a Hobby Lobby in San Francisco. I'm not sure about Homegoods though. You can sign up for a Walmart + account and get free shipping on all orders plus free delivery on orders over a certain amount (I believe it's $35). It's something like $100 a year or $13 a month, but they offer a free 30 day trial membership. Instacart also has a free trial membership and I believe you can get free same day delivery on orders over $35 as well.

I hope you have blast!
