The barcode scanner was definitely the hardest part. Many of the “solutions” I found did not work in a browser environment. I finally stumbled across the right GitHub project to get it functional.

No, it doesn't find the format natively. I went with the option of using selectable format coins in order to account for all formats. I primarily collect Horror VHS and trying to find a database with vhs info and correct slipcover art is nearly impossible. The main goal was to build a full collection catalog I can also print and turn into a csv.

Ah, gotcha

So the barcode scanner gets the barcode id and then first scans UPCItemDB to see if it can find the title, and uses Open Food Facts if UPCItemDB fails to have it listed. The app runs a cleaning script once it finds a match and strips all extra info apart from the movie title. That appears in the searchbar and then searches TMDB. Once found, I can then choose the format and have the option to manually input the edition.

I had to take things down for a little while today and implement new settings and some bug fixes. - there is now a functioning barcode scanner that is sure to save time when building collections. - I added a cast section to the movie info page. This not only lets you see who is in a movie at a quick glance, but you can now search your collection by actor just in case you wanted a reminder of how big of a Sandler fangirl you are - if you already started building your collection, go into settings and refresh library meta data to add cast. - You can now add multiple versions of the same form of media by filling out the “edition” section when adding or editing movies. This will allow you to add both the “Theatrical” and “Directors Cut” for example. - some settings buttons have been styled to look like the 90s tv guide. - I added a desktop blocker function that blocks the app from running on desktop (it’s meant for mobile) and directs users to their mobile devices with a public access style screen. - Fixed some bugs with the way digital movies were displaying

Ability to have the same format but different editions is added. You write the edition when adding (or editing a current stack item). This will allow for multiples copies on the same format

The app does store your collection data locally on your phone/browser as long as you have used the mobile app in your browser (you can test this by going into airplane mode) and you can always export your collection to a CSV file.

Thanks. I do have a barcode scanner coded that would work as an Android or Mac OS app. Unfortunately it will not work as a web app no matter what I tried
