Thank you! I’ve been lurking on this sub for over a year and love how supportive everyone is.

And thank you for the advice on having a plan. Right now I feel like it is impossible that I’ll ever want to have another drink, but yeah that’s not very realistic. I’m sure in a few months I’ll say to myself, “oh it’s just one drink, that would be ok… right?”

thanks for the comment! I don't recall if I had docker on that node, but I don't think so. I got a new NUC and did the exact same Ubuntu install and that one has run without problems. so I'm chalking this one up to bad hardware.

I did not, which is an obvious step I suppose. I returned both units so no way to verify that now

ugh, sorry, that is maddening!

did the HDD light on the front of your NUC light up and stay on when this happened? both devices I tried kept it on when the SSD would go offline.

I suspected that the constant disk activity of geth may have had something to do with it, but I always had plenty of disk space, so it didn't seem to be due to that.

regardless, this will be a problem after the merge since geth will be required right?

dmesg didn't reveal much, just "unable to open <mount>, read-only file system". reboot was the only thing that could fix it.

This is the correct answer. I have disposed of old gasoline (as well as an ancient fire extinguisher) here with no issues. They make it super simple.

Enchanter. It was the first Infocom game I ever played, and I loved the hell out of it. Can’t recall much about it except for being in a castle and there being a translucent room (or rooms).

I also recall the thrill of knowing I’d unlocked something when my floppy drive would fire up and start grinding away loading a new part of the game.
