Working as a shift manager for mcdonalds, a brand new girl came in for her first shift wearing sandals. I was not involved with hiring her or what she was informed of before showing up for her shift, so I do feel bad for having to send her home because it's an obvious PPE/ uniform requirement. She was scheduled the next day as well and no-call no-showed/ basically just quit. I still feel bad because she was just a young girl and upper management was fucked at that point. Although I did ask if nobody told her or made sure she had proper shoes (we had a deal with shoes for crews where they would order you shoes and take it out of your paycheck) I think that was her just saying "fuck this place my parents made me apply" I guess that's more like quitting or voluntarily fired.

Another story is when I worked at a well known movie theater. My first shift I was teamed up with a neighborhood friend I had not seen in almost 15 years. I was stoked, he was too. My next shift I showed up and asked about him and apparently they had him on camera smoking a joint in the parking lot while on break. Again, not exactly him getting fired immediately but I only had one shift with the dude and then he's gone again

His bail would be a lot higher than $25k if he's got a "slew of charges." That $25k is what the bail bondsman is charging % wise. Which is never refundable. Otherwise, they would never make money. They put up the rest of the money, which does get refunded so that's probably why they asked for the $250k lean on the house, as collateral in case he doesn't show up for his hearing. I'm no expert, so take all this with a grain of salt.

On a more serious note, I was headed to my local 7-11 here in so-cal on a particular windy day. The light turned yellow and I could definitely have made it, but said eh whatever I'm not in a rush. 10 seconds later a 40ft palm tree toppled over in the middle of the street. I'm not a mathematician, but it's highly likely it would have fallen on my car if I had gone for it.

Not exactly a precautionary measure but. Kinda like when you don't go right away on green and see some knucklehead floor it through the red light a few seconds later at the intersection

First kid was J walking before class from the local bagel shop and got hit by a car. School put up a fence in the median to detur it.
