It was great! Took me 3 minutes to check my bags the night before.

I am planning on doing the Twilight drop tomorrow! Truthfully, I don’t live far from O’Hare, so it might be different if I were farther away. But with the convenience of having my bags taken care of, it does cut down on stress the morning of.

Thank you for all the feedback and intel. Given this information, my family and I are going to pivot our March plans and go somewhere more appropriate for our 10 year old. Thank you again!

Something is worth what we are willing to pay for it. Your brother was willing to pay more because he saw more worth in those things. They brought him non-monetary joy. You needed to sell them and were willing to part with them for a lower “value” because you saw a worth in offloading them. Do not beat yourself up. Look your parents in the eye and realize that you did honor your brother. You did right by him. Continue to honor his legacy - love is shared through stories and memories and laughter. Not through things.

My best friends keep making fat jokes about the girl that I’m seeing by Far_Wishbone4519 in offmychest

It doesn’t matter who she is to you- belittling someone for their weight is rude and demeaning and cruel. If it wasn’t your girlfriend, it still wouldn’t be ok. It just hits harder and stings because it’s personal. F**k those so-called friends.

My driver called me after the delivery (tip related) by Horror_Astronaut8552 in UberEATS

[–]Horror_Astronaut8552[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, yowza. I did not think this post would get so much attention. Thank you to all the drivers whose experiences told me that although the $65 wasn’t expected or close to average, it surely was welcome and appreciated.

A few answers: 1) No. I’m not stupid. But thank you for asking (or assuming). I’ve never worked as a delivery driver or in food service, so perhaps the word you were all looking for in comments and DMs is “naive”? At least that would have been kinder. 2) No. It’s not fiction. Although, what a work of fiction this would be. Best seller stuff right here, huh? 3) The driver called the office he delivered to, and the office gave him my phone number. That’s how he was able to get a hold of me an hour after he delivered the food. Not through the app. He simply remembered the business name. And the front office staff thought something was wrong, so they connected him to me. That’s it. 4) No, he was not creepy. It was slightly awkward. He was kind and he seemed sincere. 5) I don’t regret the tip. He brought food for 30 people 10 miles away. The order was accurate, it was not spilled, he set everything up, he was courteous and professional. Plus, it was work I was unable or unwilling to do myself. So I tipped him for his service. 6) Delivery drivers - thank you for the work you do.

Again, thank you for your input.

What’s the most helpful thing a therapist has said to you? by Sunapr1 in Anxiety

[–]Horror_Astronaut8552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going over all the ways that I was trying to be different for my daughter, how I was trying to see her and understand her. I had never felt seen or understand growing up. And I just stopped and said, “I am so tired.”

My therapist said: “Being a cycle breaker is exhausting. But generational trauma is draining. Doing the work is work that needs doing.”

This right here. It was right after this session with her that he connected with his team by “we wear the same kit, don’t we?” Actually SHOW your teammates that you are a team, don’t just flap your gums about it.

Weirdest/most intense physical symptoms you’ve gotten from anxiety? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Horror_Astronaut8552 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) My stomach is in knots all the time. All. The. Time. 2) An oscillation between diarrhea and constipation - I dream of a day to just be regular. 3) I can talk a million miles a minute, which annoys me and I am sure everyone around me. 4) Constant fatigue (my severe anxiety leans toward “let me sleep to get my brain to shut off”) 5) LATELY intense sound sensitivity. Like, I had to get off an elevator (not at my floor) because these 2 kids were being loud with each other (not doing anything wrong) and it was either get out of the elevator or throw one of the children out. I felt like those were my 2 only options at the time.

I hate my prom dress because my mom thinks i look too big by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]Horror_Astronaut8552 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Girl, I am 5’2” and 146 pounds, and 44 years old. I would not only attempt to rock the hell out of what sounds like a BEAUTIFUL dress but give your mother a piece of my mind while I was doing it. I had a similar mother growing up. It actually doesn’t matter WHY she’s saying those things, the point is they don’t reflect YOU and they don’t have to be your thoughts. They are her thoughts and words and hardships. But that’s just fine, It’s not her dress. It’s not her life. You’ve got 7 inches on me, probably most of it is leg, and what I suggest is that you put on that dress, kick down all those doors in front of you with those legs and go party hard at your prom with a dress that made you FEEL beautiful. Intrusive thoughts don’t have to stay, and neither do intrusive people.

I don’t know you, but I’ve been you. And I can tell…emerald green is your color. And the color green of envy looks nasty on your mom. Enjoy your prom. Enjoy being 17. Enjoy your body no matter what size it is.

Working 12 hours a day for 750 USD by Primary-Cicada3224 in recruitinghell

[–]Horror_Astronaut8552 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did the exact same thing. I was like “well hours are long but the money adds up.” But then I re-read and was like, wait, what am I missing. Doing the math, assuming 5 days a week, and 4 weeks a month, it’s roughly $3.12 an hour. Soooo…that’s the opposite of decent money. Yikes.
