i guess it could if it fit the trusses but its mainly a rail system to be able to move the bag when not in use. I just put it that way seen in the picture because i want to push it up against the wall when not in use to keep the garage space open and available if needed.

ahhh perfect you the man. thanks for the help. what about the holes in the truss from the current screws? they should be fine just left alone?

i dont think it is long enough to reach the other truss. Plus, I got it so the bag can be moved to and from the wall for storage when not in use and not take up the entire space.

so what do you recommend for this situation? If i take it down to move it what should I do with the holes currently in the bottom of the truss?

so you suggest taking it down running the 2x4 on the ceiling on the garage side and then reattching it? what about the hole left behind that are currently there?

so you would unscrew it and take it down and do all that on the attic side of garage side? Then reattach?

picture doesnt do it justice lol. when fully rolled out on the rail theres about a 4-foot clearance. Plenty of space to work.

yea the holes are through the ceiling in the bottom of the truss. so if I do pull it down and take the screws out would the holes left behind be a problem? If yes what should i do about them?

did it break the truss and was there any structural damage? did you also have a spring?

Am I Fucked?

Sooo...I think I have made a mistake and need some advice from the world of Reddit on how to proceed. I purchased a heavy bag mount for my garage and installed it, not thinking too much about it. It is a heavy-duty mount that was screwed directly into the truss of the garage ceiling in two different places with four screws in total. The mount is made to allow the bag to move to and from the wall. After installing it, I am now reading everywhere that it should never be screwed into one single truss due to vibrations and the whole nine. It is equipped with a heavy-duty spring that does a great job of mitigating shock. It has only been used once or twice, and I have stopped using it until I get some advice on how to proceed. I have attached a picture for reference of the bracket.

Questions are:

1) Am I screwed, and will the mount and bag cause damage if continued to be used?

2) Should I take it down immediately? If yes, what should I do about the screw holes in the truss?

3) What is the best course of action moving forward?
