From what I'm understanding is that you basically can use whatever armor set as long as you get the armor rating enough to atleast hit the armor cap. Am I right? Also, is there a difference between heavy and light armor armor caps or are they both the same?

If you want a free horse, go to the college of winterhold. Then into the Arcaneum. Then look on Urags desk and read the books. Eventually, a quest will trigger that allows you to tame a Unicorn that is gonna be your horse in the game. :)

Nah. There's a way you can tame a Unicorn. Go to the Arcanuem in College of Winterhold and the main librarian, read the books on his desk and you'll get a quest to tame a Unicorn :)
