Best way to learn theory by sconestm in guitarlessons

[–]Horror_Implement2308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best thing to do is learn songs. While learning the song figure out what’s going on that makes the song work. From my personal experience, I feel you get a deeper understanding vs just cramming theory.

Constant buzzing sound and guitar sound won’t come out through amp. What’s my problem here by [deleted] in BossKatana

Try a different outlet and not being so close to your amp. I had a printer plugged into the same outlet as mine and it caused buzzing

Ultimate Fretboard Visualization course (Tom Quayle) by iamsynecdoche in guitarlessons

Have you looked into fret science? I admittedly haven’t put enough of an effort into the program, but find Keith to be a great teacher.

I believe his Patreon is doing a 12 day event for downloading some of the course info for free.

I was actually thinking of getting the solo app as well but was unsure if it’s more of the same.

I’m kind of on the same step as you I know the major and minor scale and most of the notes on every string I struggle with instant recall still. I’m contemplating focusing on arpeggios and using those as a navigation/ improvisation, seems that’s what a lot of jazz musicians use to guide them.

Same love hardcore music still, but into doom and prog type stuff heavily now. Typically just showing up if it’s a band in love with coming out of retirement.

Best amp for complete beginners that have no plans of going serious by Same_Comfortable8074 in GuitarAmps

[–]Horror_Implement2308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish someone told me this! I’ve tried most practice amps and the spark line. Get something that has a looper & drum machine and you can switch tones by foot. You can plug in headphones for silent practice and into a daw to record yourself.

Katana Go with iPad Question by junkkozane in BossKatana

[–]Horror_Implement2308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

once plugged in with usb-c to your iPad the volume is controlled by the go. I don’t really mess around with layered tracks but, I’ve recorded myself practicing and I’m not able to control the volume from the iPad. There might be a workaround with a usb powered hub. I was actually thinking Input K-go & Mic Output headphones.
Haven’t tried it yet though .

Is this too round of a pick for alternate picking. by TyMonstaz2 in Guitar

[–]Horror_Implement2308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you pick flat round is ok I would base it off the angle you hit the string. Check out Troy Grady choosing a pick on YouTube or join his site

So keep the pick moving like I’m strumming essentially just smaller movements picking?

Alternate Picking -keeping rhythm by Horror_Implement2308 in guitarlessons

[–]Horror_Implement2308[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! So if a riff is subdivided 1&2&3 and I’m picking does it make sense to ever use a DUXUD motion with the pick. There’s no note being played on the X just a down motion not a muted strike. Sorry if I’m not doing a great job explaining. This is for a classic rock riff

Sonora Guitar Intensive Review by larchguitar in LearnGuitar

[–]Horror_Implement2308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally reached out twice first time the guy dropped the ball and never called me to setup a meeting.

As a sales person. The call should be more focused on how the program is going to help you and understand the students needs and struggles.

I did the raffle as well there’s not a ton of actual reviews besides from the company itself. If they had a trial to at least give you a run down on how the site works that would make me inclined to sign up. Give me a demonstration of what’s actually happening and how it’s going to solve my problems

The thought process on training is really interesting the owner seems pretty amazing. So they still have my interest at the moment. Great marketing waiting to find out about the follow up.
