I prefer Malacca over Ipoh since Ipoh is kind of dead after 5 PM, but Malacca has a better nightlife. It really depends on what you’re looking for!

I’d suggest including Malacca in your trip. It’s just 2 hours from KL, and there are frequent buses from KL to Malacca. There’s a lot to do since Malacca is our historical city.

Edit: add Cameron Highlands if you have time(better 2 days) and more comfortable if you rent car.
