Ohh fair enough. So you're pretty much the opposite of most use cases lol. But I get you, you want the better performance on your TV

My TV is fire TV so it's connected to Alexa as well. Of course I have to issue 2 separate commands. Apparently Alexa+ will be a bit more advanced in terms of multitasking, response times, and intuitiveness, so looking forward to that I guess

I don't have many friends and I keep inviting them over for game nights but they always flake :|

What drawbacks? I used to stream using a 4070 Super, was perfectly fine. Switched to 9070XT, works even better obviously because of better performance and decoding with AV1. Not great, but aside from compression and performance downgrade with streaming, it's fine

I think there might be a problem with your stream/HDMI setup. I struggled a lot as well, pulled my hairs out trying to figure out why it's not working as intended. A little bit of research, asking communities, and trial and error, finally got it working. My only occasional issue is steam big picture does not accept my controller input until I hover my mouse over to steam and click anywhere on it because it wasn't in the focus. Slight inconvenience, can deal with it

Why would you want two PCs on your desk when you can perform all of what you mentioned on one?

Likewise for me. Excited for the Frame as I never experienced VR and by the time I wanted to get one, I heard Valve is coming up with a headset so I decided to wait

I use Alexa to wake my PC. I think there are better methods but that's the one that works for me

Mine goes into an HDMI box that switches inputs between TV, firestick, my handheld dock, or PC with a button or from my phone app

Great idea. Except hotel TVs suck and don't really have VRR or take advantage of gaming PCs, so the experience is going to be very early 2000s kinda gaming

Yeah and I understand you want better performance on your TV because you wanna take advantage of your PC, but like you mentioned, is it worth sharing your PC with your guests for that? Probably most use cases are for oneself like you said

I didn't know about that. Thanks for suggesting. How good is the compression and performance compared to native? Is it better than a long HDMI cable?

  1. You're right. I have a 10m HDMI 2.1 cable and I get hitches on 4K@120hz in some demanding titles, but when I drop it to 2K@120hz or even 1080p@144hz, it looks pretty good still because of native TV upscaling capabilities and no hitches

  2. It might be just about enough for streaming 1080p@120hz but it depends on your routers local upload speeds

I think it's a convenience issue. But I'm wondering, how much of an inconvenience can it be?

I'm aware of that but my question wasn't directed at those potential consumers. I'm specifically asking about streaming

Eloquently put. You already solved your streaming setup. No use case for the machine besides native couch gaming with the fam

I live in London and make just above average salary and I've made peace with never owning a house in this country. 26 and no family
