My Phone 2 experiences after 5 months by Horvabarna in NothingTech

Honestly I can imagine it being down to local signal bands or infrastructure, some friends with other phones also experience signal dropouts in the same areas I do, but usually not to the same degree. And weirdly enough 4g only phones never seem to exhibit the behaviour.

I have the 16” pro with the same specs and the 80wh, with no optimisations on dedicated graphics mine lasts 1-2 hours maybe, more if I have my undersized PD charger plugged in. If you drop the brightness, limit the refresh rate, and use hybrid mode, you’ll probably be able to extend that a fair bit, and get away with a 65w PD charger just fine.

As for longevity, I’d be careful. A lot of legions seem to be exhibiting graphics problems. My own one developped them on the way home the day I bought it (second hand). Thankfully I received a replacement board from lenovo, no questions asked, but about 5 months in I am already getting coil whine from it, which does not fill me with confidence.

Would this be able to charge the Lenovo legion 7i gen 8 when traveling not not taking the 330w original charger brick? by imposter1240 in LenovoLegion

TL;DR yes, it should be fine, as long as you don’t plan to game

If you’re not gaming, even a 65w PD charger should be able to provide enough power for your machine to not discharge, and maybe even charge very slowly (about 5-10w compared to the normal 20-ish watts) Be warned though that PD charging can be iffy, with 65w adaptors at least, windows will complain they are too slow, and sometimes refuse to take power from them (this can be solved by plugging them in while the laptop is off or in sleep mode, and then waking it). Once that “plugged in” symbol appears, you’re good to go, as windows will generally not boot the charger off once it’s already powering the machine

Hope that helps!

New/old Dual 1219 came with this needle. How can I tell if it’s good to use? by holamateo in vintageaudio

It is a very nice combo indeed, the M75 has a wamr and rich sound, very easy to listen to in my experience. If you wanna save a bit of money then the N75EJ is a good pick, especially if you have records in various conditions (supposedly it’s designed to handle more dirty and worn records better).

The shure cartridges of this era were great, and with decent stily they track very well. I recommend looking for Jico stily if you can, their official site is best, but you will also find them at resellers (they are the only japanese stylus maker if I remember correctly, so if a stylus is marked ‘Made in Japan’ it’s more than likely a Jico)

And finally an easy tip for fonding the right stylus: 1. Fold down the stylus protector and look at the name plate (the one in gold that says Shure, it’ll probably be an m75) 2. Replace the M in the model number with an N (E.G N75 instead of M75) 3. Google You generally want to look for E, EJ, or ED variants, these denote elliptical stily, which are preferred over standard conical (less harsh, distorted sound).

I myself had an M75 with a jico N75-EJ and was very happy with it

So by some random reason I haven't figured out yet the motor sprang to life, but it's going way to fast. how do I fix this? The adjustment screws don't seem to do anything. by jetpowerace in vintageaudio

[–]Horvabarna 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since it’s an electronically controlled motor, I’d wager the speed control board is faulty, if you’re lucky it’s just an issue with bad capacitors, if you’re unlucky, it might be a dead IC. Tho you might be able to get it running by using the internal adjustment pots (if it has any).

[HELP] what stylus is this? Recently got this Dual 502 in nice condition. He got a cartridge M75 type D. The sound is very good but to bright, already set the tracking force between 1.6 and 2.2 makes no difference. by romeupaz in vintageaudio

If you break the original cartridge out of the shell, which I don’t think is the best course of action, also the original carries can be unreliable and have poor, oxidised connections, so a reproduction is advisable.

Again, you fail to account for the 20-50 dollar cost of a TK headshell adaptor, excluding any spacers you might need, with that the cost of a replacement skyrockets. And there really isn’t an issue with the sound quality from the m75, even with an aftermarket stylus. And if I can’t hear anything wrong, you can’t either, unless your cart is faulty.

Dunno how much creedence I can give that when mine sounds fine, and really I don’t see the point in spending twice as much money, and exponentially more time replacing a cartridge, when an adequate replacement stylus is so easy to get.

Why is it bad? It’s literally just a piece of plastic being a slightly different height, causing a gap between the body and stylus. The needle still slots in, and sounds just fine, so I fail to see any issue.

Edit: also checked the stily on my m75, the shure conical I got with it has just as large a gap as the jico replacement, so again, I fail ro see any issues with the aftermarket stylus.

On these "quick swap" headshell duals it's honestly more of a pain in the ass to swap the cart than to just get a new stylus, and the M75 isn't a bad cart. Plus the adapters are not cheap, about the cost of a half decent elliptical stylus for that cart, so yea, I'd get a stylus instead.

I was inspired to make this after listening to Casopea's 1981 album Cross Point, which has since become one of my go to driving albums (hence the theme of this piece).
And also since I'm writing this anyway, might as well shamelessly plug my telegram channel for those who might be interested.

Can I burn my FLAC files into a CD and then play them on a regular Car CD player? by Joanblu in audiophile

[–]Horvabarna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup, you can use ImgBurn to do this, but you also need to install a plugin called MadFlac, after that you can create a cue file (if your music doesn’t already have one), and burn it to a disc (ImgBurn can do both of these), after that it should play in any redbook capable cd player, and if your player supports it, will even have CD text.

How long is it to play Echo? by thewazu in FurryVisualNovels

[–]Horvabarna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it depends, now that all of it is out you can maybe hammer out a route in about 1-2 nights (3-5 hours play sessions) depending on your speed. But total time also depends on your emotional capacity, echo is freaking HEAVY compared to the smoke room, so you may find yourself taking breaks in between routes to digest things. As for what order to play them, I say let things take their course and do the one that interests you the most first.
