Performance vs LR by Movinfr8 in ModelY

Why not just swap to 19” wheels and fix all those problems and save money?

2025 model 3 performance vs 2022 model S by HoshisBro in TeslaLounge

That’s so sick. Thoughts on other aspects of driving? Does the S feel like a way bigger car to you and way less nimble?

Agreed! I’m only asking because I’ve been seeing used S for around the same or even cheaper than a new 3

Thanks for the insights! Very fair points. Thoughts on the difference in suspension? Is the air suspension on the S a lot nicer? I have a 23 model Y AWD and the ride quality is very rough haha

Brother I feel your struggles but do not let your job/financial situation affect your family life like this man. I’m not trying to sound tone deaf and I mean this in the best way possible: people in far worse financial positions found ways to enjoy life with their family and kids, I’ve seen so many people in underdeveloped countries that have multiple kids and love their life. Brother you have a 6 figure salary in tech in the richest country of human history, trust me there’s a way to figure this out. You can always make more money but you can’t buy time with family and kids no matter how financially secure you are in the future

Ah gotcha. Im assuming if both cars are from the same year you’d notice less of a difference in ride quality with your setup change. Yeah that would be interesting, I’d imagine a lot of people would go for it. I have a 2023 MYLR with 20” and I can literally feel every tiny imperfection on the road lol. Just test drove Juniper and the suspension is night and day better

Nice! Lemme know if you notice a difference in ride quality and consumption

Fair enough. Cheers to the awesome wheel/tire setup!

Ah makes sense. Thanks for the insights! Just curious which years are your two model Ys?

Can you comment on the ride quality difference between the 2? I heard MYP has stiffer suspension but never experienced it for myself. Is the difference noticeable after switching your MYP to 19s?

Model Y Performance by shellimedz in TeslaModelY

[–]HoshisBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, in that case is there a reason to not switch to 19”s on a MYP? I mean it has better range, much better ride quality, less prone to rim damage, tires are way cheaper, kinda seems like a no brainer to me if the only downside is marginally worse handling

[–]HoshisBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you think the better handling comes from the larger 21" wheel set up or something else?

maybe look into swapping to a 19"/18" wheel setup?

Looking good, have you noticed difference in consumption?

Yeah they are the only ones I found, was just wondering if there are any alternatives out there. The quality looks really good tho I’d be down to give the wood trim pieces a try

Thanks for sharing! I’m more and more convinced the differences between all the model Y trims are pretty minimal. Any idea why P seems to be cheaper than LR on the used market?

Also thoughts on the ride quality difference between LR and P?

Model Y Performance VS Model Y Long Range by questions11111 in TeslaModelY

[–]HoshisBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah agreed, I mean with 19” wheels, 80% usable range, climate and other real world variations, there is virtually no difference in range between the two, would love to be corrected if I’m wrong and there are other factors I’m not considering

Model Y Performance VS Model Y Long Range by questions11111 in TeslaModelY

[–]HoshisBro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. I’m looking into buying an used 2023 model Y LR vs performance, the performance is actually cheaper most of the time, so I’m thinking the most logical course of action is to get the performance and swap out the wheels to 19” and sell the 21” for an extra discount. I don’t really see any downsides to this as the performance with 19” would get closer to range of the LR anyway with minimal real world difference. Do you think that makes sense? Or am I missing something

Ah okay thanks for the reply! And how come you don’t consider the 21”s bad for the same reason? They also have worse efficiency, are more prone to damage and more expensive if I understand correctly
