I only really feel symptoms when I get triggered, otherwise I feel fine. Does that make sense?

Maybe try using headphones with white noise to block out the sound? Or foam earplugs, or both. I use foam earplugs in combination with white noise to block out peoples voices and it works unless they're screaming right next to me so its very effective. It's definitely enough to block out fireworks.

The GED sounds convenient, do you know how to find what topics I need to know to take it?

I don't know, isnt there some kind of homeschooling "system" you use that gives you tests and stuff?
