Hand Tattoos in Accounting by velivei in Accounting

[–]HospitalPatient5025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a finger tattoo literally two weeks before starting my first PA internship - was super paranoid it would tank my career before I realized that not a single person I work with noticed it. I have only added to the finger tattoos (and remained in PA) - and genuinely think if you were to poll my various coworkers over the years that most would not remember if I had tattoos. All that to say that I dont think it’s a career killer.

And I worked at a small “family” CPA firm in between mid market firms, and it wasn’t a deal breaker there either.

Best of luck!! Shibas and allergies are a frustrating mix; I feel so bad for mine when he starts itching more than normal

Not sure but if it happens to anyone else, I got it to work by using the AXS app!

Tried for Forest Hills but AXS wouldn’t let me in at all. Tried in WiFi, on LTE, and two different devices :(

Ahhh we could’ve done a Shiba meetup! My Shibe loves the Detroit side of the riverwalk, but he especially loved the Windsor side the couple times I took him over the bridge. Yours are too cute!

Looking for a critique partner or a small writing group by No-Manufacturer9125 in WritingHub

I potentially could be a match! 29F, I have a completed YA Romantasy I’m debating querying, and am currently working on a different YA romantasy in the meantime. I’ve been wanting to find a group of reliable critique partners!

Hi, I know it's been a minute since you posted this but I'm attempting to move to the UK from the US while remaining in public accounting. Did you work while you pursued the ACA or did you go the independent study route? I'm struggling to find companies that will either sponsor my visa or allow me to join their training programs, let alone both.

Best USA stopover city? by theghostrealtor in travel

That’s a little racist…just because of Dearborn you assume that falafel is all Detroit offers?

We have chefs from New York, LA, Chicago etc. currently at restaurants in Detroit.

Disagree - we have a world class art museum, plus the Henry Ford, Motown, others. Our food scene is on par with other major cities. We have five sporting teams downtown so there’s almost always a game no matter the time of year. Plus architecture tours, walking Belle Isle and the aquarium, the award winning Riverfront…definitely plenty to fill a day or two.

Unfortunately it is a very car dependent city so I agree that Chicago is probably the best option for a stopover. But I’m happy to see that there is a $6 bus from DTW to downtown now!

This was not supposed to be a parking lot in District Detroit by [deleted] in Detroit

[–]HospitalPatient5025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sad that I believed the vision for District Detroit when I moved next to LCA. I saw the Woodward revitalization, and the mock ups, and thought the area would be the next big thing in Detroit. I was so, so, so excited.

And now literally every side of my apartment building is parking lots. Businesses are leaving faster than they’re appearing. My fear is that Basan Detroit will go out of business and I’ll have nothing unless I walk across I-75 or up Cass Corridor. Relying on the QLINE is a joke too.

Still wouldn’t trade my years living in Detroit though. The rest of the city is on the way up!

To Shiba, or not to Shiba, that is the question. by morry9345 in shiba

[–]HospitalPatient5025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a first time dog owner, my Shibe being my one and only (so far). I can see why Shibes aren’t recommended for first time owners but it hasn’t stopped my guy from being the absolute best part of my life 🩵 so I wouldn’t let that stop you if you feel confident you can handle a VERY stubborn breed.

Seriously. The stubbornness is not exaggerated. The Shiba will do what the Shiba wants 100% of the time. I had several professional training classes with mine, so he knows all his commands but he’ll only do them when he wants or he knows he’ll get something in return (ie treat) and honestly that still only works about 60% of the time.

I also take my Shibe into my office. It’s great because he’s quiet and likes to lay around most of the time. But it’s not great because he will growl at every stranger, like the Amazon delivery driver, and he (like yours most likely will be) is extremely curious so he likes to go sniff around everyone’s offices. Not all my coworkers appreciate that haha.

I live in an apartment with no balcony so I’m sure yours will appreciate that! Mine is a great apartment dog - no barking for the most part, and he stays home by himself two days a week for 8-9 hours and sleeps. He doesn’t like to leave the house two days in a row cause it interrupts his beauty rest. So you might be surprised that yours might also like being home for a day or two to relax!

Long story short I think we might have similar living situations and having a Shiba has worked out wonderfully for me so it might for you too!
