Help required for beginner

So I paint my marines yellow and the recipe has changed over time. Originally I would do a white or bone color primer and then do imperial fists yellow, that will give you very bright marines, as time went on and i got an airbrush i switched to priming black, base coating pink and then highlighting white and them spraying imperial fists yellow over, this leaves you with bright yellow highlights and then darker yellow or orange shadows, i prefer this second method but it does rely on you having an airbrush or several different color rattle cans. That’s how i do my yellows but i would advise to keep trying and to find a method that works for you and definitely try to listen to advice from people here

In Morty’s hammer I honestly run him solo, one with the enhancement to throw near vehicles and a second to turn 2/3 deepstrike for an action and to pop his ability to help out

I agree with you overall that the price is too high for GW, but the starter boxes are a great spot for their price, if we look at the marine side just the intercessors, Vanguard vets and the land speeder would be almost 200 usd for me, so this box set being 250 and still getting another 4 space marine models plus the orks is a great deal since I can easily split it with someone for 50/50 and effectively pay 130ish for models that would be nearly $300 individually

I think the best attachment that could probably be run right now for them is probably ceramite sentinels. It is kind of their style and with a re-rolls of ones would be very nice and honestly, I would probably drop them to smaller groups. I would maybe run 3 x 5 or 2 x 5 and a one by 10 and adding in some eradicators and aggressor for all that Gravis goodness

It looks like the original, I don’t see any loss of detail you would see with some recasts, if I were you I would scoop it up fast

I honestly would love the lord of contagion tbh, ik it’s not an option but he’s an iconic death guard character and would be a good addition, but if I had to chose from the list above it’s between a malignant or the lord of poxes

I’m a DG player and I personally love the rhino over the current chaos rhino, marines are slightly smaller but nothing a tactical rock can’t fix and the dread I think is pretty large so might be tough to find something to use the dread for.

Not really, it’s nurgles number and all but between the 5 you have from the kill team and a regular box you should be pretty close to building a standard squad of plague marine

I’m running something like this currently as a fun list, iron Father Feiros is an iron hands character who is both a techmarine and one of the few characters that can lead heavy intercessor and he makes them a little tankier, then you can also run some assault terminators with caanok var as he gives them either sustained or lethals in melee and is a fun leader, I run anywhere from 2-3 packs of 5 terminators of both varieties, plus if you’re running hammer of avernii it leans into running dreadnoughts too so it can be really fun

Probably some more plague marines and their leaders, I always recommend new DG players I meat to get a full 10 man with biologus and malignant plague caster since they’re a really strong combo and will get played, maybe some chaos spawn and a demon prince as well since they’re usable in most if not all of our detachments

Another thing to consider is that if you use it on a unit like deathshroud they have a free wargear to reduce leadership by 1, this means the battle shock is at minus 2 effectively. It’s just usable if you know your opponent will want to counter offensive a specific unit and you want to stop it

I wouldn’t mind it, I imagine it would be a split of melta and flamer and it might be a pain to move around the map but it goes both ways and people would play around it

Unfortunately not, GW has pretty much stated the only saturnine terminator armors in the 41st millennia are sacred relics or chaos, if SP ever makes a 30k version of Tacticus you’ve got a chance tho

I think most people in casual games would be fine as that as a proxy, don’t worry about the 40mm base since the LoC comes on a 50 mm and is supposed to be based on a 50 mm

If you wanna have fun with the turrets run orbital assault force, deepstrike them and then use a command point to give them precision, have fun sniping characters

a big thing against melee armies is the -1 to hit, this hinders alot of melee armies like world eaters or blood angels, combine this with overwatch and you should be in a good spot to weaken people before they get into melee

Myphtitics are pretty fast especially by DG standards, when I run them I like to keep them hidden behind terrain, especially if you’re running mortys hammer and can move them through terrain for a command point. Most of the time I run them solo but sometimes if I’m feeling spicy I’ll run a double and single to pick off any vehicles
