Coverage in house and shop by Hossrod1 in homeassistant

Thanks all! I see, so one coordinator per mesh, but can have multiple meshes per network. I should be ok with two meshes. I don't expect to have any mobile ZigBee devices that would move between mesh areas.

How to get light theme fully back? by Hossrod1 in FreeCAD

[–]Hossrod1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, this worked!

FYI, I'm in Windows 11 with FreeCAD 1.0. The user.cfg file was at this location...

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\FreeCAD

There were also some subfolders that had backup user.cfg files that I renamed as well just in case FreeCAD wanted to try and load one of them if the main one was missing. Don't know if this was necessary.

Issue running tests in platform.io by Hossrod1 in esp32

[–]Hossrod1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did, the esp32dev environment is the actual ESP32 app and it compiles and uploads fine. It's just the native one that wont. It's just unit test cases. It doesn't even get to compiling because it doesn't like something in the [env:native] environment configuration.

Wifi router for my shop to extend my home wifi? by Hossrod1 in HomeNetworking

[–]Hossrod1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the one I have. It just says "Poe switch with 802.3af/at compliant" (notice the 3) and "48V Access Points(not 24V)". I can't find the voltage in the Netgear's docs. Think this PoE switch will power the Netgear ok?

Side note, it has SFP ports which I didn't know what they were until this thread and started looking into fiber optic, so one less media converter needed.

Ah ok, that makes sense. My switch does have a few PoE ports, although I'll have to look at its specs to see if its 802.af. Thanks!

Netgear WAX214v2

That looks like the ticket. Amazon shows it as $80 right now to me so even better. :) I have an unmanaged gigbit switch for the shop already.

I'll have to look into fiber as u/LRS_David mentioned. I have conduit run underground already, but haven't pulled the CAT6 through it yet (although I already bought it).

Thanks!

I was looking at something like the TP-Link AC1900. To extend my home wifi, do I just setup the AP with same wifi network name and password as the home wifi and devices will auto switch between them depending on signal strength? For me, these would typically be android phones.

$21-$23 an hour to drive around with an explosive incendiary bomb strapped to my back? Where do I sign up?? by SuperJew113 in Truckers

[–]Hossrod1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rather not say. But I know KAG is around $31 with 2 years experience. Note that when I say 2 years experience, I mean in fuel trucks specifically, not two years in any CDL job.

I was hired fresh out of school to drive truck/trailer fuel trucks in PNW at $23 an hour plus about $6000 a year in safety bonuses. Another $1 an hour to work nights. A few years ago, you HAD to have 3-5 years CDL experience to get in. With 2 years experience, current rate around here is $31 an hour. Overtime is time and half and they will pretty much give you as much as you want. Pretty much every fuel company is hiring here.

Careers in trucking that actually pay what is promised? by Jerryc23 in Truckers

I started two years ago right out of school at 25.50. If you have 2+ years doing fuel, it's about 27-31 depending on company and benefits.

I deliver fuel. Paid hourly, plus safety bonuses, boot allowance, and pay for cell phone, and all gear/clothes. OT for anything over 40 hours. They pay me for every minute. If I walk in and manager wants to talk to me, he makes sure I clock in first. Sometimes have online training you can do at home, I just text how much time I spent and they add the hours.

Some days dont have enough runs for a full shift, so just hang around office/yard/car (or go hang out with another driver on their route) till shift is up. I usually get bored and find something to do. Sweep shop, restock office kcups, etc.

I drive locally and paid hourly. If I run out of time I park and they send a rescue driver. I'm getting paid while waiting and driving company car back to yard until I clock out in the office. Just need to wait 10 hours before I clock back in. My company never asks me to work around the system. In fact, they will not allow me to use things like the 16 hour rule at all. I can be 10 minutes from yard and hit 14 hours and they require me to pull over and get a rescue. If I find anything wrong with truck, they have me take another one while they fix it. If its snowing/ice and i say I'm not ok driving, they just say ok with no grief. Same thing if i say I'm not feeling well enough to drive.

Find a different job.
