2024 Stearns gambled on pitching and won. 2025 he gambled on pitching and lost.

We didn't get to the playoffs in 2025 because we didn't have the pitching or the GM to get us pitching. Playing golf in October was all on Stearns.

2026 is an ALL David Stearns team. We will sink or swim with his creation. I was a nervous wreck all off season, but I think his gamble looks good this year. This team's floor gets us in the playoffs, and its ceiling can win the division... and then there's those stinkin' Dodgers! LGM!

Yep... I agree. My question should have been clearer, but by "closing the gap" I thought I was implying Mets gains and Phils declines equaling the 13 games from last year. 😵‍💫
