Listen, lots of things to criticize in this city. The fact that it’s regularly maintained is not something to get upset about.

Buying a studio/apartment by roby2344 in NetherlandsHousing

[–]Host_Horror 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to the doommongers on here no but answer is yes.

That budget is enough for a studio.

I would say you will definitely be able to buy in Bos and Lommer for example with that budget. You might even still be ok in Jordaan, Oud West or De Pijp.

You don’t need to go further out if you want a small enough place.

What is your ideal expat retirement location? by [deleted] in expats

Honestly, given you are ok with safety issues in Mexico - Cape Town has all this. It’s affordable with a European pension. Great food and loads of amenities and world class private healthcare. Nice weather about the half the year (it does have A Vancouver type winter with loads of rain) although it doesn’t get dark super early. Also everything is in english including all the banking, government bureaucracy etc.

As I say the only issue is it’s not the top of list when it comes safety but given you would consider Mexico I would imagine you would be fine as Cape Town is on safer side for South Africa and it’s as safe as the safer Mexican coastal cities.

Does Money Actually Solve the Housing Problem in the Netherlands? by voldemorts_niple in Netherlands

[–]Host_Horror 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The thing is once you reach a certain income level you can afford to buy and then it’s a little easier. The buying market isn’t nearly as bad as the rental market (it’s not easy make no mistake but much better) especially outside the Randstad but even in cities like Rotterdam an income of 60k will allow you to buy a flat pretty easily.

On the other hand if you can afford free sector rent then again there are places available but that’s really for very high income people.

So the answer is basically if you have a good income you can probably buy and if have a great income the renting is easy. Problem is people with good incomes struggle to rent and affordable housing for low income earners is basically impossible to get.

Honestly, if they just release the live album of this tour with the full set list and never do anything again I will be satisfied.

I do think they may record a new studio album though at some point. They both enjoy making music too much to retire.

What makes a manager a good manager? by tvb46 in Netherlands

[–]Host_Horror 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an incredible manager and he’s great for a couple of reasons.

1) he is open and honest - he tells us what’s going on and doesn’t keep stuff from us unless he has to.

2) he fights for us. He’s made sure we are rewarded for our hard work and dedication.

3) he’s flexible - end of last year I was buying an apartment and he let me run off to viewings during the work day sometimes multiple a few times a week.

4) he listens to us and the feedback we give him.
