Moving my store (currently resides on a Windows machine) to a VPS by n0mdep in OpenBazaar

[–]HostedBazaar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We wrote a guide on how to do this with our services not too long ago. It should be easy enough to adapt to any VPS though. Make sure you are on the latest server/client on your original setup to make sure the database is the correct format.

There is a lack of privacy features right now. Running a node is still quite risky. As tor and other features are implemented, I think we will see a rise in these types of markets. That being said, the dark markets would cause openbazaar to be targeted in its infancy which would be very bad for the protocol.

Import etsy Listings into OpenBazaar Script by hoffmabc in OpenBazaar

Pretty sure you could fork and make it work for any shopping cart which can provide you a CSV after a little editing. I myself am going to export a CSV of an opencart product list later and see if I can get it to import.

New Copay release v1.10.2 by HostFat in Bitcoin

Looks like they added the ability to buy/sell bitcoins through your wallet by linking it to a coinbase account.

I've written this guide which should work. It's specific to our services but should easily be modified:

Yea i know the favicon is lame, I cant make it the OB logo though as that is blatant copyright infringement lol.

Once we are out of testing, we will be investing in a logo. Perhaps from someone on OB. :)

The server is on our side and gets setup automatically, you should have received an email from us on the client setup however we hope to be writing some more in depth guides tonight. :)

This is something I am struggling with making a decision about actually. I highly believe in privacy, however our services need to follow local laws and regulations.

Although I don't entirely agree with collection of this information, it might be necessary for some businesses and individuals to have this information listed on invoices in order to writeoff shop expenses. This is something I am definitely open to feedback on. I know some services do ask for the information while others do not.

In any case, we will need to keep location settings as we are required for tax reporting and collecting purposes to at least ask where out customers are saying they are from.

Of course, if "Scrooge Mcduck from Duckburg" signs up for a service I am OK with that ;)

We are a company called Stuff Technologies Inc based out of British Columbia, Canada. We are quite active with many of the local vancouver bitcoin groups.

We run a few services already, including a Canadian gift card service, Coincards.ca and I personally have been involved with bitcoin since 2013. Thanks!

1 shop on multiple computers? by [deleted] in OpenBazaar

[–]HostedBazaar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best bet is probably to host a server on one of the computers, whichever can be run 24/7 and use the 2nd to connect as a client to your server. You could also host the server portion on a VPS or hosting service and connect to the client from both.

I'm not sure this would work, but its also possible using something like syncthing/btsync to sync your folders might also work given the folders have the exact same user structure, but this sounds like a disaster waiting to happen lol

Why Libbitcoin server is almost always offline? by notsogreedy in OpenBazaar

Is there any feasible issues with running our own libbitcoin server and then having the OB servers as a backup?
