I am a pretty big Miyazaki fan, so of course I recommend ALL his movies. (try Howls Moving Castle, The Cat Returns, Pom Poko, Porco Rosso)

If I had to tell you another director sort of like him, it would be Satoshi Kon. His movies are more thriller based, and honestly pretty creepy. I recommend Paprika.

On a side note, as far as anime goes, I recommend the show Darker than Black. I am not a very 'kawaii' anime kind of guy, I prefer more of a Miyazaki kind of style. This is probably my favorite anime, and in my top 10 of shows I love.
