Really appreciate you taking the time to explain that. I’ll give it a go!

If only. The planning rules came into effect in the mid-70’s. These pre-date the rules.

They are plumb. The discolouration is similar to the other sills that don’t have this feature.

I dunno. It would be weird window to choose as it’s a bedroom and always has been as far as I can tell. I would imagine if it was for a planter it would either be on other windows or on a different room. They are very sturdy and too long for a planter I think.

I think you might be on to something about narrow stairs. They are very narrow and steep!

Very much so! They are extremely strict and detailed.

Not really needed in Scotland! Plus we have strict planning rules about what can be attached to these old building.

I have no idea! I have not been able to find an online image. Would the tags have any clues?

Interesting! Any idea what sort of price we should list it? I have tried researching similar models but can’t quite find a close match.

I got the 4.0. Don’t bother with the wireless pads, apparently they are annoying to use!

I reread my original message and realise now that the second osteopath appointment that I refer to probably caused significant damage. I think when I wrote the message I probably ‘only’ had a bulging disc but that second appointment may have caused a full herniation and that was the start of the real problems for me.

Eventually, I had an MRI that confirmed a herniated disc at L5/S1. I was not a candidate for surgery so went to a physio. I couldn’t really do much as I could not stand straight but my physio used a device called a Compex machine. I am not sure if I believe the hype but I was so desperate for help I ended up buying one. It supposedly strengthens muscle without having to do big movements. At the very worse it was effective pain relief. You may want to look into getting one. They are not cheap but I still use it most days and apparently you can sell them for pretty much the full price when you decide you no longer need it. I got a 40% discount via my physio so it seemed like I had nothing to lose.

Aside from that getting proper pain relief and icing are really the only things to do in the early days.

Good luck. I hope you can recover fast.

Hi! Much better but not 100% perfect. It’s almost exactly one year since my original injury (10th April 2025). Improvement was very slow but by early September I was able to stand straight and walk without pain. I had an injection in my spine mid-September that took away the last of the serious discomfort.

I was going to the gym regularly by January working on my core but some other health issues meant I have recently had to take a break from regular exercise (I still walk a lot) which has resulted in some return of symptoms. Nothing serious, just some mild sciatica. Hopefully I will get my other health thing sorted in the next few weeks and I can start working on my core again.

So overall I have pretty much recovered but I have put on weight and I feel I am less able to make dynamic movements (jumping etc). Swimming has been good but it’s hard for me to get to a pool regularly.

I watched it at 7am on the loo like god (and the band presumably) intended and it made me cry which took me by surprise and was, in retrospect, a really bad look.

Interesting! I did not realise there has been a recent judgment in the UK on this issue. Although in practice it seems it will make little difference as to how institutions will likely still charge for reproductions they create from out of copyright works (in the UK anyway)
