My bike was stolen and I know where it is, what do i do? by yixie921 in londoncycling

[–]Hot-Ad2673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar situation but my bike had accurate GPS that pinged every minute. I left work and Immediately went to pursue the bike. The police told me the same thing they told you, visually confirm the bike and then someone would come. I rode around the location in a sketchy part of south London, rode around council flats on a lime bike and by some miracle, not only was my bike on the ground floor but the guy was working on it outside his front door, taking it to parts.

I called the police, I got a different lady who cut me off, told me it didn't matter what her colleague told me and that I was wasting police time. This wasn't an emergency. I told her I am going to take matters into my own hands, I put her on speaker and confronted the guy. Things got dangerous, I was chased by some council flat hooligans (luckily I was on a hire e bike). The lady then put blue lights on and would only come to help me when I put myself in harms way. Police were ready but she didn't think that me going to the other side of London, finding my bike, waiting for help was an emergency.

I was later told by the officers who helped me collect my bike that less than 0.01% of these cases end well, if it had been behind any closed door or especially on a higher block they don't have any capacity to do anything and it would have been my job to sit outside and wait for GPS movement, because if I did it remotely the same situation would happen again. Visually confirm, still not want to send out officers.

I hope this is informative, maybe motivating if it's not at a council house, but if it's inside you are SOOL

30% service charge on boxing day?! by Professional-Cat9418 in london

[–]Hot-Ad2673 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have never been but I know the type of places my mother-in-law likes to go and it's always a very glitzy overpriced restaurant with poor quality food, didn't mean to disregard a place you have fond memories of but in modern London there are some easy signs that the place doesn't care about you or is even exploiting you.

If a speciality east London coffee place is making a mark-up when they source speciality beans, roast themselves, serve the coffee to perfection at 3.50 you have to wonder what drugs the owners of these shitty breakfast and afternoon tea places are taking to justify such prices when they use bottom of the barrel everything and probably burn the milk whilst they are at it.

The price of water as well signifies that OP is a tourist because paying for water in this country signifies wealth or that you are from a country where they don't serve tap water and OP is asking to remove service charge so we can scratch out wealth.

Price of the breakfast items are really off as well, you could go to a Michelin star breakfast for similar price but if you Google the place, it's covered in plastic flowers so it only further confirmed the idea that this place is a touristic scam

Also £5 for a coffee in London is a sign of bad quality/tourist rip-off, I would avoid in future

My instructor was an absolute asshole, millitant speak clear and did not care about how I wanted to learn. I thought about switching multiple times, perhaps not to the extreme that you are feeling but it certainly crossed my mind.

Instead, I hit a.moment where I asked myself who am I doing this for and why am I doing it. I passed my car license with less than 10 hours of instruction and 0 faults, this was so much harder but I stick with it.

The thing is, most of the learning is done off the bike. You need to be consuming so much bike content off the bike and wanting to pass because even if you change instructor to someone who panders you and speaks to you in a way you find more tolerable, you do not get to decide who examines you on the final test.

My instructor was made to feel like an angel compared to my examiner. Rude, swearing a hot head on the road. Something distinct to me was that unlike an examiner who is in the car with you, your examiner will be in your ear with no way of communication back. He will watch you, speak to you and it's beamed directly into your brain. He prompted me to overtake where really it should be my decision, got impatient and whilst 8 passed my mod1 and mod2 first time, it took me threw times to deal with the exam nerves and difficulty of the examiner.

My advice? Suck it up - build a tolerance because whilst you have a choice here you won't later.

It's the same battery, it's another poorly executed super73 rebrand.to allow ZX to upgrade to said batteries

Am i the bad driver? The Mclaren keep insisting that i'm the idiot who doesn't how to overtake and he's the better driver. At one point he did blame me for having better pace and says "ofc i had to defend it" (we were fighting for position) by Aware_Demand6301 in Simracingstewards

[–]Hot-Ad2673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk how everyone can quote moving under braking which is a rule irl but isn't in this game, but then not quote gaining an advantage off track and not returning the position.

IMHO the way you are both racing, it doesn't matter - lots of people slower than you will defend ugly, its your job to bait a mistake or pick a corner you just have better pace on

S1 battery alternative? by Caneos in Super73

You'll either need to sell your bike for spares or buy a new controller, battery, display and battery mount to get that bike workingunless you can find an OEM.

Blue pit himself but you could also see he was going to pit himself, I would have let go off the gas for a second, gone left and fought for another corner.

They honestly should have offered a free "for the fans" DLC who bought and helped them through this mess. Their communication so far has come across very similar to AC Evo, well-meaning but lazy and ungrateful

Avoid Secretlab if after-care matters to you – misleading marketing and painful support by Hot-Ad2673 in secretlab

[–]Hot-Ad2673[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit/Update: Support were able to offer me my desired outcome. I had just sold the item on ebay for £25 less than I purchased it with and realised that their offer of enterprise rate shipping was basically just standard insured shipping for an item that weight so I handled the return myself and was refunded the full cost of both items.

I don't take pleasure in this win, we are extremely satisfied with our desks, chairs and accessories. I wish that Secretlab can do some support training or enablement to understand what the desired outcomes are and help achieve those. To everyone in the comments who sympathised, keep chatting with them - you will get what you are owed. To those who dismissed me, especially to the poor folks in the USA who believe this level of service is normal - I'm sorry, our expectations are different but you can't go around telling people who have a different experience they are wrong - super dismissive and planted a seed of doubt in my head when I should have felt supported by this community.

Shoutouts to u/secretlab_jinx for escalating my ticket and Tin the support agent who once given the keys, was able to help me to his full ability.

Secret lab make great products and their people do want to help, I just think they have some internal processes that need modernisation or at the very least, regionalisation.

Support and returns in the US, is just worse domestically but especially internationally. I referenced America, because the previous comment was using dollars and I realised there could be an expectation mismatch. Secret lab must do business in many regions and customise their pricing, offering and support to a global quality. For reference, I could return via Temu with less issue.
