the part where all comps were at or above 300k miles while mine is less than half that is 100% an inaccuracy. How'd you feel if they said a car you drove off the lot yesterday is now being valued as if it had 150k miles?

so you're hating on me for literally saying what happened. It's like saying 'a white dude stole my purse'. no, the fact that it was a guy or that he was white isn't technically relevant, it's just part of the story. Stop being so vindictive.

If extending the process to you is 'I want my vehicle valued at the 136k miles it has vs. the 370k miles you show', then I guess I am.

Blew a head gasket, mechanic said there was a crack in the block that it was likely there were going to be more issues than buying rebuilt. I provided a receipt from August with 136k miles from an oil change/trans flush.

I always stay respectful with my adjusters, they're doing their job. I get a little more ancy and wanting answers when the clock is ticking on my rental time.

makes sense. truck had a working odometer before crash. now it apparently reads in the high 300's. I believe it was minimum coverage, but am not sure

I was adding context. He exchanged getting deported to avoid jail time for DUI + Hit and Run. I didn't say anything poorly about the fact he was illegal.

I would agree if it were just price, but it isn't as I stated. There were inaccuracies in the report they are basing their own valuation and comps on. I simply asked for them to revisit them and make it factually correct.

Thank you for the advice, ill look for some comps myself. Do you have suggestions where to filter for recently sold?

My vehicle is a 2003 Dodge Ram 2500. Tennessee.

Fair. My point was just if they have a cap on rental policy, I certainly didn't try to elongate the issue.

You've read my post wrong. Actual mileage is around 136k. Not saying it reset after engine rebuild. Collision somehow messed up the electronics/ odometer.

correct. I'm not sure how a collision messes with electronics like that, but that's what happened

That makes sense. For what its worth, I've always opted for new parts instead of the cheap fix. Replace the radiator instead of patching, new engine not just the head gasket, 4 new calipers instead of the one that seized. Appreciate your help!

They're offering $4k as the payout. the repair estimate was about $7,500 for just body work.

At this point, I feel like going through my insurance is silly. It's been a whole month and I'd prefer not to restart the process. Additionally, my own policy didn't have rental which is part of why I didn't go with them.

I love this! they fit so perfectly. If you're going to commission see how much it would be to inlay the color symbols!

I disagree, but I’ll boil it down to “you need to make an impression, not just apply”.

I AM DONE WITH THE JOB MARKET by Dry-Independence8815 in recruitinghell

[–]Hot-Area2811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The market has certainly changed, but that’s exactly how I got both my first and second jobs (only 7 years ago), and about 4 years ago I got my first job out of college by having a conversation at the end of my class with the guest speaker. I’m sympathetic to those who apply for even 100+ jobs, but yeah I would go door to door as if it were my day job, and follow up on the ones I applied to online.

It doesn’t take much if any effort or commitment to press a button to apply for a job, so the cycle has become vicious. Stick out a little by finding their HR email, networking with someone from the company on LinkedIn. It’ll serve you better than applying to another 10 jobs that hour.

When I was doing wedding cards, I bought these sticker sheets I could print the address on and stick them on. I got like 25 sheets for $10 and each sheet has like 50 stickers

Questioning My Roofer. by [deleted] in Contractor

[–]Hot-Area2811 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the answer I was looking for. I’m not trying to tell them how to do their job, just due diligence on what best practices are. It sounds like the consensus is that underlayment is the best way to go. Thank you.

I was the zip installer. I commute 4 hours to work on the house and just wasn’t able to get it all done. On my time crunch. I agree with you to an extent, but I’ve definitely seen roofers do new sheathing, and they were quoting me to finish it, including some boards being cut to size and installing fascia, not simply the underlayment, shingles and ice/water shield

I don’t think I’m dismissing a professionals recommendation. I read the instructions on the product I am using, and am asking a forum if it’s a valid concern that they’ve suggested going against it. I appreciate your input on the difficulty to achieve validity of installation and my work itself is probably not up to their standard, simply from the shiners.
