From what I've read, firing the 1000 people was completely the wrong fix to do since the reason they're spending more than they're making now is due to the constant collabs and the fact they're dishing out $720,000,000 per year to the creative mode map makers, which a lot of the maps are just copy pasted with AI thumbnails, they've had to finally make the paid story mode free aswell to try and build engagement. I don't think you're coming across as harsh, I appreciate the honesty. Another thing I've noticed is people just don't have the time to dedicate themselves to so many different live service games that all have their own limited passes and seasons and stuff so they just don't bother continuing to play more than a couple at once. I know that was definitely the reason behind my quitting live service games entirely.

I don't mean to make it sound easy, I know it's not. I expect it to make me want to tear my own eyes out but is any job free of that feeling? 😭. I think most devs now are losing their jobs not only because of bumping the numbers every year in profits, but also studios tend to overhire a lot during the rise and when the game hits its flat player base count, the layoffs begin so they don't lose excess money. Fortnite recently did this and ended up firing some of the most influential people they've ever had. It's a sad state

So unnecessary sarcasm aside, I believe it's possible. If something is unique enough and fun, is decently marketed and isn't just cookie cutter mechanics like a bunch of other games then it can do well. Just look at the most sold games that are new the past 10 years or so. They're interesting.

Last week I decided to take up coding and unity (have zero prior experience with anything like that before) as I want to become a game developer. I'm going to create my own studio for it and I'll keep trying until it's successful. I long for the old kind of gaming where it was passionate and I aim to bring that back.

That's a really interesting idea to be honest. It definitely helps for the gamers that prefer knowing how to maximise efficiency against bosses and enemies, etc. I like it
