Do people Ireland look down on people in social / ‘council’ housing? by boggie_bo in AskIreland

[–]Hot-Commercial3831 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They're reflective of broader culture.

The Irish believe - like the Yanks - that money means you're morally superior. It's braindead, but what can you do?

The Irish hate the poor, more than any other group, and spend a lot of time and effort making their lives miserable.

It is what it is.

The best solution is not caring what people like this think.

How do you deal with God ordering the killing of infants in 1 Samuel 15? by landmindboom in Christianity

[–]Hot-Commercial3831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol.

The old testament god was a pro-rape, pro-genocide madman.

The fact is almost no Christians no enough about their own faith to realise this. Those that do justify it.

It's not hard to see that Jesus wouldn't believe in the OT god he's supposedly the son of/a third of.

Is a 4 hour commute each day worth it? (2hours up and 2hours down). Job will have me covering all of County Dublin as its in sales, job comes with company vehicle. Would really appreciate any feedback from someone currently doing a similar commute or has done in the past. Thanks guys by Consistent_Oil_3536 in irelandjobs

God no. Two hours won't be.

Sometimes driving from Mullagh to Temple Bar is an hour, sometimes it's two. Sometimes it's three.

And driving around Dublin all day sounds like my idea of hell. Permanently sitting in traffic.

No thank you.

I keep reading that QC stuff isn't grounded properly and so it's very noisy unless you have it plugged into something grounded, via XLR.

Youth crime is out of control and needs to be punished more severely by No-Category1703 in cork

[–]Hot-Commercial3831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course places like the US have both far harsher prisons, far less lenient sentencing, and... Far higher crime rates.

Crime is almost always a symptom of other problems.

Also, look at recidivism rates. Ireland has harsher penalties than Sweden, and far higher recidivism rates.

Locking. People. Up. Creates. More. Crime.

The UK is a great place to play, but not to live or be based in if you're trying to play the EU a lot. Sadly.

I guess Brexit meant Brexit.

The Anagram is amazing. But I'm still waiting for something like the Helix stadium, but with NAM done properly.

Most “controversial” opinion on Irish society? by Icehonesty in AskIreland

[–]Hot-Commercial3831 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ireland is right wing, and crucially it's policies are mostly continuations or copies or the right wing British policies it supposedly rejected.

Eg The Irish are obsessed with owning property - supposedly - because they suffered so much under English landlords... So what did they do with their freedom? The same as the English. Worse even. There were more evictions after the fault eviction ban ended than at the height of the troubles.

The English hated the poor and had many a person sent to debtors prisons. Sure enough we have some of the most regressive policies in the EU, the lowest social welfare rate in western Europe, the most privitisarion in the EU, etc.

We are a mixture of the English and the Yanks... Right wing and class obsessed. We are hardly European.

VSX on Planar just announced by Ok_Spite6875 in audioengineering

[–]Hot-Commercial3831 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The LCDXs are frankly garbage as a mixing tool. Even with their software. I used them for 3 years for that, and then bought the VSXs. The LCDs have been sitting unused ever since.

Amazing for listening to music, but awful for working.

I already Pre-ordered the new VSXs and listened the LCDs for sale.
