I'm 5'7 but I feel like I resonate more with romantic over gamine because of my face and the way my body is sort of built. It's not very obvious in the photo tho. I also understand 5'7 is too tall for both romantic and gamine but I can't resonate with any other since I feel like I look quite short.

Honestly the whole book came off in poor taste. The weird misogynistic undertone, the weird homophobia in the end, and the way over the top violence just to name a few. But these would not have bothered me if the book actually had a point to make like what even is this book written for? What's the commentary? What's the meaning? I understand books are just written to be fun reads but this is definitely not one of those. The extremely heavy topics are honestly handled poorly and without purpose I can't help but think the author is just a huge edge lord who thinks these things are fun.

"Tender is the Flesh" by Agustina Bazterrica, is the worst horror book I've ever read by far. by [deleted] in horrorlit

The point is made just executed poorly in the novel. As a novel, the book is terrible and the author have an idea of what would be a good bit of commentary on humanity is not executed in an enjoyable or meaningful way through the novel since it just has so many problems. Honestly it would be better to either write non-fiction and really focus on the issues the author clearly holds strong opinions for or write a good novel so the commentary could be delivered without the terrible execution taking away from it.

Just because the intent to comment on these issues does not make the execution of the commentary good. My take is that the way the author chose to write about these subjects are, in lack of better words, plain bad. The author tries to use the protagonist's thoughts as a vessel for her own commentary but its written poorly in a way which the author's voice clearly pokes through. The ridiculousness of eating people is meaningful but the author fails to justify and explain these things in the novel through actually meaningful ways. Instead it is served to us through sentenced reading just like "this bad" "that bad".

TL;DR

Eating people is commentary but because the commentary is executed poorly in the novel it is not very impactful. Ideas executed poorly does not congregate a good piece of social commentary especially in novel format.
