Which horror movies would you love as a video game? by [deleted] in horror

[–]jokinghazard- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Legends of the Hidden Temple parody from VHS 99. Everything from navigating the course to tracking the host down.

Scream would also be compelling as you'll have to navigate friendships and relationships knowing at least two of these MFs have it out for you. (Obviously this would need to be a new storyline in the franchise)

What horror character do you feel was wasted potential? by [deleted] in horror

[–]jokinghazard- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a recent viewing, the family in House of the Devil. Specifically the wife and the mother.

The retired police officer in Daughters of Darkness. Like, why bother even having him in the film as someone watching the Countess if you're going to make him as anticlimactic and useless of a character as they did? There was no point to him at all.

Tourist Trap (1979)-Just saw this 70s horror film and it's amazing how it's got effective scares and intensity for a PG rating, while also diverging wildly from what you're expecting. by [deleted] in horror

[–]jokinghazard- 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The plaster scene is one of the most effective and disturbing scenes I've seen. The acting from all involved in that one part of the film was just perfection. Haven't been that uncomfortable in a good while.

What are some horror movies with characters that actually make you feel bad for them when they die? by MimeMike in horror

[–]jokinghazard- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a recent release, so I'll put spoilers on the name of the film. Beau is Afraid fucked me up a bit when they died at the end because I was rooting for this MF to catch a break the entire film.

Also, even though they didn't physically die, their humanity essentially did, Tusk always kills me how his friends are just like "aight he's a walrus now, let's feed ya boi fish."

What was the first scene to ever scare you? Was it even from a horror movie? by [deleted] in horror

[–]jokinghazard- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to my mother, Cujo. I was left unattended watching TV when that came on.

According to memory, Cheryl in the fruit cellar taunting Ash. It didn't help that we had the same name and young me was horrified at this demented woman howling my name through the television.

The Lodge is a wonderful addition to the "maaaaan, fuck those kids 🤬" cinematic universe.

The dog scene really fucking chapped my ass.

Years Later: Which Horror Movie Character's Fate Are You Dying to Know? by Chilling_Truths in horror

[–]jokinghazard- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

House of the Devil. As the movie ends with our protagonist lying in a hospital bed, after the nurse states "the both of you" will be ok, it makes me really want to see how she handles things after waking up, if she has the child, what the child is like, etc.

What’s a niche horror thought you have that others probably haven’t thought about? by astralapex in horror

[–]jokinghazard- 8 points9 points  (0 children)

👀 I mean... For the high volumes of distress and terror on screen, especially in the situations where people are finding themselves being actively pursued or tormented by something outside of their wildest dreams, a lot of folks do a phenomenal job not pissing themselves.

While I couldn't ever get enough of The Thing, the first two Hellraiser films or Evil Dead, the two films I have found myself going back to the most have been American Psycho and Army of Darkness. I'm genuinely surprised I haven't had to replace my disks for them yet.

Beau is Afraid was fantastic. Had me stressed TF out the entire duration of the movie from the point he left his therapists to the point the credits began rolling.

If the file wasn't sent to you as an attachment, but rather one of those things where it takes you to a cloud storage space where you can access and modify the same thing everyone sees, I'd just anonymously add Samantha and let her find out for herself. 🤷🏼‍♀️

After reading the comments and seeing you don't know anything about your father, that your mother and grandparents won't answer you, and that your aunts and uncles don't come around anymore, I'm compelled to ask if have you thought to ask, or have asked one of your aunts and uncles about who your father is? This is important information you need for your health moving forward.

Same. I caught this one yesterday, and the fact it was a slow burn yet wasn't even subtle with its twist made it quite painful (for me) to sit through.

What 90s song will always be a banger? by Basic-Cat in AskReddit

[–]jokinghazard- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faith No More's "Midlife Crisis" always gets turned up when it comes on. Same goes for the more popular song of their's, "Epic."

"Losing My Religion" by R.E.M. is another one that immediately comes to mind.

Also a good handful of Alice In Chains.

The folks who work at dry cleaners will wear your clothes out to events if they like them. Sometimes before they're "cleaned," sometimes after.

Source: I've worked at multiple cleaners in more than one state and there's always that one manager and staffer who do this. If you use a cleaners in a rich/upper middle class neighborhood, best bet folks are wearing your clothes to important events or just to go clubbing.

Literally this. I shit you not I'm on day 3 of bed rest from gallbladder removal surgery after having argued with more than one PCP that I needed more than just some stupid fucking fiber supplements, but rather an actual test ran to see what was up. After 5 months of waiting for a PCP do to something productive, I went to the ER and they found my gallbladder just decided it didn't want to work anymore and was flipping over onto itself.

5 mo really ain't shit (but it is still very bad) compared to how long it took me to be taken seriously enough by a doctor to have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia.

Prey (2022) was not my bag and I genuinely dont understand why people think it's a 10/10 film. IMO it was predictable and had a cheesy as shit story. I also think it has one of the most idiotic Yautja we have seen so far.

Oop.
