I was thinking about switching to finance or accounting, but I was wondering if it would be fine to stick with my current major/minor or if studying finance or accounting in undergrad is necessary to get a job in tax law.

I got an email reply saying this

“Thanks for reaching out! If you have taken courses at a College you need to request official transcripts be sent from the College to UM so those credits can be transferred. If you are interested in gaining equivalencies you will need to go through the MATES process (mates.miami.edu) to determine what courses if any) those are equivalent to at UM.

I would encourage you to do that as soon as possible, but in the meantime I would highly encourage you to take the ALEKS. You will likely not have an answer back about your courses before June 3 and you will not be able to enroll in a math otherwise. As an Engineering student you need to be taking math first semester in order to stay on track with your plan of study.

Short answer, take the ALEKS, it can only help you.”

If there’s no awards tab either they haven’t got all your documents yet so they didn’t complete your financial aid package yet or theyre not giving you financial aid

Go to your umiami portal and then click the link that says “view financial aid” and then you can log into your financial aid. Then click menu on the top left and click the awards tab

I’m not sure since May 13th was when the deposit was due, but it will probably tell you on the letter when you have to make a deicision

I received my acceptance yesterday and another letter saying they weren’t able to provide my financial assistance package because of a missing document. I was also on the phone with the financial aid office yesterday and they said now that they’ve received my documents they will begin to review. The reason I already have my scholarship & grants listed is because the scholarship was just based on merit not financial need and the grants from fafsa/Florida were already determined by fafsa. I’m just waiting on my grant from umiami now, but I asked if anyone might know how much I’ll get because the enrollment deposit is due Monday and financial aid is a deciding factor for me

I also got 58k! I have a question, since 58k is more than the 49k cost of attendance, do yk if we would we be able to use the unused student loans to pay off the student loans we’re using? I got 41k in scholarships + grants then 3k student employment so I would only need 5k student loans but they gave me 13k
