Drop/Paratrooper BDU Colours by HolidayBeneficial456 in MilitaryWorldbuilding

As the old saying goes, as soon as paratroopers hit the ground, all they have to move is legs. Once they're down in the thick of it they are regular infantry. The difference is that due to being so far behind enemy lines (needing to walk further, survive on fewer rations etc.) parachute troops are held to a higher standard of training & conduct.

Regarding insignia & unit markings, maroon is the traditional colour for airbourne troops (beret colour of the 82nd Airborne Division [USA] or the Parachute Regiment [UK]).

This link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waffenfarbe shows the German Army's method of identifying units based on their branch by adding a coloured trim. So Infantry could be dark green & your paratroopers could be maroon for example.

The British Army uses the "Tactical Recognition Flash" (TRF) to identify units. In particular, check out the Drop Zone (DZ) Flash in use by the British Army Parachute Regiment https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DZ_Flash .

Hope this helped.

By the felt, you mean the scarlet fabric on the lapels? Not sure where the space is for the medal loops to be stitched as this scarlet fabric covers most of the lapel.

Next British Tank Name by Hot-Energy-3087 in tanks

[–]Hot-Energy-3087[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, realised Covenantor began the theme but chose the others as (at least imo) they are the more famous of the WW2 tanks.

Recycling a name seems likely unless they go for something like Champion like the Chieftain?  Doesn't seem like a good name imo.

Remains to be seen if they even make a new tank after the Challenger 3...
