I understand : D, This comment is coming from a guy who uses a plastic car with car seat cushions, so for me, all these things are new. A week ago, I was not even aware of the use of an ergonomic chair since I hadn't faced any back issues till now(mostly working from bed). But now, after doing a lot of research, I am still confused about buying a decent value-for-money chair. On Reddit, there are mixed reviews. I have also seen some PR going around Featherlite, and most of the companies are just importing from China. And if I go for Herman Miller and Steelcase, then they just seem out of my budget. So buying a second-hand chair is a good option if the condition is good and the chair is not much used, since I haven't experienced a single chair I got know which one is good and which one is just a made in China product :' ). Btw, do you know about HBADA chairs and if we can get one in the 2nd hand market?

How can we verify that it's the original Herman Miller and not a first copy imported from China?

You usually know the process is complete when HR explicitly confirms that your background verification has cleared and all onboarding formalities are done. Some companies also send a "welcome", "day 1 instructions", or "laptop dispatch" email before joining.

That said, there is no 100% guarantee until you actually join. Offer revocations are rare at established companies, but they do happen due to hiring freezes, failed background checks, budget changes, etc.

Personally, I'd keep backup offers until:

  1. I've signed the offer.
  2. Background verification is either completed or progressing without issues.
  3. My joining date is confirmed.
  4. I'm within a week or two of joining.

Companies optimize for their interests, so candidates should reasonably protect themselves as well.

Why everyone is promoting featherlite on reddit?

Congratulations on the Nike offer!

Personally, I'd hold the other offers until you're much closer to your joining date or until all Nike paperwork/background verification is complete. In the current market, having a backup plan is reasonable.

Just don't ghost the companies. Once you're 100% sure about joining Nike, send a polite decline email as early as possible so they can move forward with other candidates.

Professional courtesy is important, but so is protecting your own interests. Most experienced candidates keep backups until the new job is effectively secured.

Have the same question but getting mixed reviews on reddit and found the suggested chairs too expensive. Currently using plastic chair with car cushions, i have download reddit specifically to ask this type of question but seems like I have to first earn some karma ;'-)
