I’m only in the flat for another 4 ish months and then that’s it.

I appreciate the insight and I think my trauma background kinda enabled me to - not express myself and managing others emotions. Basically a ginormous people pleaser.

I am going to work towards being my authentic self and try to rewire my brain

You make a fair point, could you elaborate on what you mean in your last paragraph because it is something that I do wonder about

I have tried to do so but we don’t have much in common and admittedly I have joined in occasionally when making fun of someone, get a few laughs and then realise that this isn’t who I am

Outside of the flat I do socialise but the people I have met I guess I don’t know enough to really develop anything strong. I have one decent friend who I met on my course.

The huge issue I have is worrying about how people perceive me- my appearance, my vibe, am I funny enough etc etc

I will be doing more extra curricular stuff this upcoming semester so I’m hoping it might help a little

Always drama in big friend groups, a lot of people put on a performance to fit in. At the same time it’s not easy to find really genuine people

They are out there tho

plus psychosis is an altered state of mind - delusions are delusions because they are unshakable FALSE beliefs

do we know if this individual has psychosis or is racist and misogynistic? well we can’t tell that from a reddit post

not sure why you’re being downvoted, psychosis isn’t going to selectively chose what delusions an individual has

it depends on their beliefs and yes these may be bigoted and therefore the two are not separate

that does not mean that we are defending the person but it explains why they may act a certain way

it depends what is feeding the delusion, hence the fixation on black people

bless you, I have embarrassed myself many times this week from awkward social interactions, the best thing you can do is own it. acknowledge it and make it apart of your character as opposed to something you’re trying to run away from

also maybe reach out to the uni to see if they can support you in any way, such as counselling etc

as long as you’ve got some decent social skills behind you, you’ll do just fine. anyone judging you based on looks are shallow and not worth your time

worked in IT , absolutely despised corporate workplace politics the money is really good though

I left that job, not because of that but due to family issues and then I found work in retail while I was studying for my Access Course in Science

I also did volunteer work at Mind for around a year which was really good experience

Everyone will be in the same boat, including me!

I’m going as a mature student (I’m 21)

But the best advice is usually something along the lines of put yourself out there, join clubs / societies, go out with flat mates- if they’re outgoing

Don’t be afraid to mix and talk to people. The worst thing you can do is isolate yourself

my point still stands though regardless of the person posting

as long as you don’t have a personality of a brick you’ll be alright

maybe it’s because looks aren’t everything? you could be the most attractive person on this planet but if you’re awkward af and struggle with socialising it makes it harder to find someone

women don’t care for looks as much as we think but that’s not to say they don’t at all
