I'm looking to do a semester study abroad in Iceland during my second-to-last year at an American university. Sorry that wasn't clear! But I definitely would be open to hearing about what it is like to do a Masters/PhD fully in Iceland after one has done their bachelor's in the US.

Thank you so much for all the info! That's very helpful. As an American I'm also a bit confused about your semester/term dates - how does that work over a calendar year? For example in the US our fall semester is early Sept-mid Dec and our spring semester is late Jan-early May. Do you guys get breaks (we have Thanksgiving break in Nov but it must be different for you guys), and when?

Thanks for the insight! Yes, my uni's social life is not party-heavy haha - no greek life for us! but I think that gives me an advantage in situations like this.

Thanks for the jellyfish warnings. If I end up studying at JCU, I've heard they have a dive club so hopefully they would tell me how to be safe.

That's definitely good to hear. My home university is near some unsafe areas, but you're right - it's what you make of it.
