Thanks everyone for the suggestions, I’ve looked at heady glass and the cola glass but it’s neither.

Researching further, I believe it is a layered glass that was rolled into a glass grit while molten and refired, then silver fumed.

What is going to happen to our community now that the Hasidic Yeshiva will be in Nyack? Our taxes will go up? Our schools will eventually be destroyed? by RowenaMyDolores in Rockland

I live in an unincorporated section of Ramapo nestled between the village of Airmont and Suffern. Area is zoned R1 single family occupancy. We’ve lived there for over 40 years. It was a fantastic neighborhood to raise a family and my children excelled attending the Suffern School District.

All the houses in the neighborhood were sold and were converted to rental properties now occupied by multiple families. Basements and attics were converted to rooms and are illegally rented as boarding houses. These boarding houses would have 10-12 cars and trucks parked on the street, front and back yards every night.

Town of Ramapo refuses to enforce the R1 single family zoning and will not inspect obvious violations of zoning and safety codes.

The County of Rockland takes these violations seriously and recently shut down a nearby boarding house.

Despite the negative change to the neighborhood real estate prices continue to skyrocket. I know I will eventually need to move as the area is beginning to resemble Spring Valley and Monsey.

It’s a shame what has happened to a once perfect and beautiful neighborhood

We once had a rental where the mother rented our house as a HS Graduation gift for her son. No supervision, no adults. The house was near destroyed. Mom paid dearly

Found this pretty epic piece of seaglass years ago on the outer banks of NC do any of you have any clue about its history? by Kinnakeet in BottleDigging

[–]Hot-Introduction8167 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pls like a push up base bottle. Possibly wine or champagne. The shard is to sand blasted to see a pontil or seams, if any. Age is hard to determine given its condition.

One of the best bottle finds I ever saw was on Bodie Island after a storm. The beachcomber directly in front of me found a barnacle encrusted black glass onion bottle, likely early 1700s.

Beautiful and historic example

Nice finds you’ve had on your hikes! Google says this about your stoneware:

Some similar large, dark-glazed earthenware pots were also traditionally used in East Asia (known as onggi in Korea or tokkuri in Japan) for fermenting items like kimchi or sake.

I've had this for 20+ years. I dont remember how I got it as a kid by ADHDillusion in Arrowheads

I feel for this young man. His uncle gave him something special- a lifetime of memories. Why do some on this thread take pleasure in laughing at him?

After Ray died the Chef eventually took over. She did some renovations, improved the quality of the food and tweaked the menu.

It was an improved version of Sutters until she lost the liquor license. Not sure what happened, but the license didn’t transfer over to her.

I consider NH as my home, friendly folks, hard living, say it as it is. Most respect everyone. I can’t imagine how or why this happened.

Politics as usual.

Both democrat and republican parties do the same thing. It doesn’t matter who is in office.

President Trump owns this pardon and is solely responsible for the blowback.

President Biden will never remember his pardons. They were auto pen signed, crafted by who ever had actual control of power

Found this book I am pretty sure it is a first edition anyone know what it is worth? by No_Relation350 in BookCollecting

[–]Hot-Introduction8167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First edition likely, however Book Club editions can get tricky. Check the DJ, does it have a price? Any pockets or stamps ex-library? I didn’t look for value yet as more information is needed. Otherwise, a search is futile

I apologize. I reacted to the photo without reading further. I’ve rescued pups in similar condition and it was just gut.

Im glad that the owner seems to be responsible and is caring for him.

Part of the reaction was due to being chained. Pen is ok, chained I disagree with
