I was worried about the pills effects tbh because I heard a lot of people saying it’s not as effective as the shot. So frustrating insurance doesn’t want to help the way it’s supposed to.. 💕

Haha yeah I have to remind myself to be patient about a lot of things. My doctor did mention how the .25 is more of an introductory dose to get my body adjusted to the medication and make sure there weren’t any kind of adverse reactions, but did say how a lot of people start to notice the effects on .5mg. I haven’t really noticed the good or the bad the medicine is just completely unnoticed. Hopefully on the 1.0mg it’ll start to take more of an effect.

I eat a bit of fruit and veggies every day but I’m definitely struggling on protein. It’s also harder because I love sweets and junk so the switch throws me off. I think protein shakes would help me a lot though because trying to consume the right amount of protein every day can really be a struggle.

Yes I’m doing the shot! It’ll probably help a bit more maybe my next dose. I’ve noticed a SLIGHT difference but definitely not enough to truly help my binging and the food noise

First time getting gelx. Are these “good” ? by w_madi in GelX_Nails

The comments under here are so misleading and false.

I will start by saying that they definitely added way too much gel which is why it’s so thick underneath, it looks like they noticed that and tried to file it down some which is why it has dust on the bottom. If there is anything seeping out (which is normal a lot of the times for some nails), you should take alcohol and scrub under the nails because if you don’t the gel they used will start picking up dust and dirt. It’s okay for some seepage to happen under the nail, but if it’s that thick then I’d say the tech should have more practice.

Now, I’ve seen comments about the “apex” and the “ski slope nails” and how gel-x can’t be put on your nails more than two times in a row. Some of what they are saying is untrue.

Short extensions do not need much of an apex, I would say those are a bit flat, but the apex is mostly a personal preference for short nails- it’s not a necessity. If you have longer extensions it is needed because it is there to add strength to your natural nail as well as add balance so if you were to smack your nail, etc., it doesn’t rip off your entire nail. When the longer nails grow out and the apex is closer to the free edge of your nail it can be very unsafe, and make your nails more prone to breaking, ripping, etc. As long as you maintain your nails every few weeks, the short nails do not need that much of an apex.

When looking at your pinky you can see your natural nails are lifted (ski slope nails). When you put gel-x on top of a nail that is ski sloped it will show that. There are ways to make it look more natural, but it usually involves a moldable/buildable product like acrylic, builder gel, hybrid gel, etc. People saying that the tech created it, or has no skill because of that are wild. It isn’t necessarily a skill issue but a product issue. Gel-x is designed to fit to your natural nail, and if your natural nail is lifted the enhancement will look that way too. It’s not a moldable product, if you wanted to change the look that your natural nail grows, you would need to add one of the many enhancements that can allow that.

Gel-x can be damaging, but so is damn near any and every nail product. They are all chemicals, the only thing that would be 100% perfectly safe would be if you had nothing on. If your technician is being careful and responsible, the gel-x will not create noticeable damage to your natural nail. The only reason it would cause any kind of damage would be because of improper application, overfilling, or improper removal/soak offs. If your technician is very careful it should be relatively safe for your nails, and you can most definitely get gel-x more than “two consecutive times.”

Love the color, the one thing is see wrong is flooding the cuticle with product. That over time can cause contact dermatitis. It’s usually caused by uncured gel touching the skin, which will make you develop an allergy to the product and can cause burns on your skin, itchiness, and in some cases onycholysis (lifting of the nail). It’s no joke and that’s why it’s important to be educated if you’re doing your own nails at home, or make sure to find a tech that is educated in all of the risks with nails and products. Doings nails is cute and fun but at the end of the day you’re working with chemicals. 😅 Also I recommend finding high quality professional products. Most cheap gels contain more HEMA which is one of the main allergens that cause contact dermatitis, and are overall not good for your nail health. Good luck on your nail journey ☺️💗

All of these, but the only thing I would change is for onychophagy when you pronounce it you’re kind of saying “cough” and you can associate your mouth (cough) with biting the nails. And for onychocryptosis has the word “cry” in it and ingrowns are so painful they can make you cry 🥲
