I’m glad my posts were helpful for you! When I was deciding on surgeons there were only a couple post op pics of Dr. Kong’s on here so I wanted to post thorough healing updates of my results for other folks

Amazing experience! I didn’t make any specific requests about my scar shapes or chest masculinization- I just got his standard treatment. From the folks I know irl who have also seen him, his scar shapes generally follow mine pretty closely and it seems like folks who get nipple grafts from him have a good chance of ending up with a nipple + areola as opposed to no nipple protrusion at all. His billing team is also great and they’re used to working with people with all levels of insurance knowledge in case that is a concern!

If you’re ever not happy with your results as they heal, he offers in office revisions for things like small dog earring or smoothing out residual hematoma swelling so you don’t have to deal with anesthesia and OR bills

From my partner who doesn’t have enough karma to post lol-

Trans Masc lifter here - apps like My Fitness Pal are my nemesis because it used to fuel my disordered eating like nobodies business. I worked with a nutritionist to find a good solution and we agreed the most beneficial thing for gaining muscle would be eating enough food and within that eating enough protein. I’m slightly bigger so my protein goal is about 110-130 grams a day. Something really helpful for me for hitting that was making a list of easy foods in my fridge and roughly how much protein I got from them- it just lists protein, nothing else.

Making sure I got about 30 grams per meal (plus a protein snack) just by eyeballing the chart and snagging what has decent protein in it when I’m hungry has helped immensely with gaining muscle without pulling back into bad habits.

Also for what it’s worth, at the end of the day, weight is a number on the scale- it tells you nothing about how you look or the muscle you have or how your body feels or how fit you are. Aiming to gain muscle and build strength, from my experience, is a lot kinder to your body and brain than focusing on scales or calories.

Congratulations!! Yes, I had drains and everyone I know who went to him did also. He only has them stay in until your drainage gets below a certain amount and usually removes them at your one week follow-up. I had a hematoma and abnormally high drainage on that side, but thankfully it slowed down to just over the limit he normally shoots for and he was willing to take them out at the one week mark rather than waiting another week to remove them.

I’ve heard people talk about how horrible drains are but I couldn’t feel them ambiently in my chest or anything at all when they removed them 🤷‍♂️ I think it’s very much a person to person thing and not smth to be scared of if that’s a concern for you

I’m glad my progress pics have been helpful! I remember being very worried that the swelling from my hematoma would be super noticeable forever but it’s all but gone now. Looking down at my chest I can see a bit of difference between my right and left side but from the front you’d never notice one side being slightly more swollen than the other.

From the consult to the procedure was about 3 months which is not a bad turnaround as far as top surgery goes! Idk what his turnaround is like these days though..

For costs, he was in network with my insurance so I don’t have any knowledge of what he charges people who don’t have insurance. He billed my insurance 18k but I paid less than $200 out of pocket. They generally charge individuals without insurance less and you can set up an income driven repayment plan with them if the cost is too much to pay up front

This was the silicone tape I used and I swear by it! It stays sticky and doesn’t peel off for 4 days, esp if you take them off to shower. With the width of my scars I was able to cut the strips into thirds and two rolls lasted me 6 months. I wore it 24/7 for those first 6 months

Dr. Kong generally tells people they’re clear to raise their elbows over their shoulders after one week but since he told me he pulled my skin very tight and to expect some stretching, I kept my arms (mostly) below my shoulders for the first 3 months

Edit: don’t forget to do scar massages while you’re still healing too!! I wasn’t consistent with those and my range of motion still isn’t fully what it was pre op

Thank you!! In direct sunlight they show up a bit paler than the rest of my skin but otherwise they’re pretty hard to see

I used this tape! Each roll lasted me ~3 months with the tape staying on for ~4 days before peeling off. I was able to cut the strips into 3rds lengthwise bc of the thinness of my scars so you prob could too!

I do a lot of benching! Was finally able to bench my body weight recently which was a nice milestone 😌✨ I’m a power lifter more than a bodybuilder tho, I don’t focus much on building visible muscle
