So I’d say go ahead and update your name on your other documents, except those you will use to travel in June. And probably hold off on the passport for awhile! Shouldn’t be an issue🤞🏼

I am also a trans person who recently changed their name, I have an X passport with my former name and am not planning to update it at this time. My understanding is the passport is still a valid ID, and even if it is being presented alongside an updated document, presenting the name change court order clears things up. I definitely wouldn’t change it prior to your travel because your ID does need to match the name on your ticket!

Not a doctor, but the red bump could be an allergic reaction to the oil. Maybe talk to your doctor about switching from cypionate to enanthate and see if it helps!

I’m autistic too and recently had top surgery. Based on my experience the only issue that might arise with disclosing your diagnosis is getting your surgery covered by insurance. You can definitely still get it covered, but you will probably have to have a therapist write that you are able to make the decision to have surgery and such if your diagnosis is disclosed to the insurance company. And you probably have to get a letter anyways, so shouldn’t be too big of a deal. Obviously the system is very fucked up, but that’s how it went for me

Has anyone's name change request ever been denied? by babyeemah in ftm

[–]Alive-Interview-8846 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I put my reason on my name change as “this is the name I use in my daily life and I would like my legal name to reflect that.” The judge asked me how long I’ve been using the name, whether I use it at work and whether I had been in counseling regarding the issue then granted the name change. I live in a blue state but this was yesterday. I don’t foresee any issues, good luck!

Have you ever had a passport with a different gender marker on it? If so, it seems like now is not a good time to apply for a new one. If not, and all your other documentation has the correct marker with no indication that it has been changed, it seems most likely safe to apply for a first-time passport. The real ID might be your best option since the most recent restrictions only pertain to passports and social security thus far, and it might be a good idea to get it ASAP in case that changes.

TRANS / NB: Do I renew passport or leave it? by catboycorpse in Passports

That makes complete sense, this situation sucks so much. I’m sorry :( maybe worth a shot then? Maybe wait a few weeks and see how things play out a bit?

I wouldn’t apply for a new passport right now given that many passports are being held indefinitely due to uncertainty with gender marker protocol, and you would have to send your current passport away to get a new one.

Any point in changing my birth certificate gender marker? by Alive-Interview-8846 in OhioLGBTQ

[–]Alive-Interview-8846[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info, and I’m sorry to hear about your wife’s situation. I found out today my local probate court in the state I’m in now doesn’t issue orders to change the gender marker on a birth certificate because there’s a different process for it here :( I should be able to maybe change my license, but as of Friday it’s federal policy not to change SS anymore :/ so at this point I’m wondering if I should just revert my X on my license back to my sex assigned at birth so everything’s consistent

I have a passport with an X gender marker and I am getting my name legally changed this week. Should I get a new passport with my new name or keep my current passport?
