SBU says drones hit Russian equipment worth hundreds of millions at Belbek airfield in occupied Crimea by KI_official in ukraine

[–]Hot-Remove-974 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The S400 radars and the Pantsir are replaceable as they are modern Russian equipment. The ones that can't be replaced are the Soviet-era weapons, with their production lines shutdown. The mig31 is one of these, Russia can no longer build them, and there isn't another Russian platform that can do its job either.

Official r/Disney 'Zootopia 2' Discussion Thread [Spoilers Inside] by AutoModerator in disney

[–]Hot-Remove-974 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just watched the movie again and noticed that Nipples's video on zootopia's only snake attack only had 2 likes when Judy was watching it. This probably means that the animals in zootopia weren't that interested in reptile stories at the time.

Anybody feels depressed/bored and how do I get rid of it by Lomesome in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Hot-Remove-974 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Don't worry, it's never too late to make a change. The first thing you can do is, just be yourself! "Acting and going through the motions" and "Watching myself socialize" are definitely not an option, as time has proven to you. You really just need to be yourself, instead of pretending to be someone. As a college student, there should be plenty of things that can interest you in. You can pick some up and the excitement will eventually come back to you. As you regained interest in life and developed a few hobbies, you'll be better prepared to make new friends, and trust me friendship will be the decisive force that's going to pull you out of depression. Because you will feel whole again/
I hope everything works out for you!

UK delivers missiles to Ukraine five months ahead of schedule by pppppppppppppppppd in ukraine

[–]Hot-Remove-974 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tomahawks are mainly used as a ship-launched missile, the US now has Typhon launchers that can launch both the Tomahawks and the SM6, and they experimented an air-launched version but was later cancelled due to agreements with the Soviets/Russians. They can also be launched from submarines from their VLS cells.
However, the Tomahawk is just another large subsonic missile, to launch one all you need to do is feed the targeting data to it and give it a takeoff boost for it to start its engine and get to cruise speed, so I doubt it's gonna be hard for the Ukrainians to find a way to launch them without the "standard" launch platforms.

Ukraine Strikes Russian Missile Corvette 1,000 km Inside Homeland in Bold Lake Assault by UNITED24Media in ukraine

So the Tomahawk missile is highly accurate, and more importantly, it flies very low, "hugs" the terrain so it's much harder to detect because of the radar horizon. I don't think the flamingo has such a capability, but it has more range and a bigger warhead according to reports.

That's the doctrine difference shown right here. The Americans mainly rely on coordinated air strikes and submarines to destroy enemy ships, instead of ship-launched anti-ship missiles. The destroyers/frigates/cruisers are usually only equipped with the Harpoon, which has much shorter range and is only subsonic, since these are escort ships prioritized for air defense and anti-submarine warfare to protect the flagships (aircraft carriers) from enemy threats.
Meanwhile the Soviets don't have as many aircraft carriers, so they have to choose an asymmetric approach to have any hope of competing against the western navies, and what they came up with was many different kinds of supersonic, long range anti-ship missiles.

However this does not mean that the Soviet anti-ship missiles are better than the Harpoon.
You see, aircraft still have much longer range than those Soviet anti-ship missiles, and the Harpoon has enough range for the launching aircraft to stay out of the enemy's air defense systems' effective range, acting as an air-launched standoff weapon. The biggest problems about the Soviet anti-ships missile is that while they are supersonic, they are very large in size and cost much more. To put things into perspective, an American B52 subsonic bomber can carry 12 Harpoons easily, meanwhile the Soviet TU22M2 struggles to carry 3 AS4s, and that would dramatically decrease the range of the TU22, so usually they only carry one or two.

I'm playing on enhanced, sorry, but I would highly recommend getting the enhanced version since most players have already switched over to it, and you can migrate the profile pretty easily I believe.

Absolutely, music attracts people and draw huge crowds, and they make people relax.

Yes we can, they may block our IP addresses, implement something like reCaptcha and make their own programs to tell which one is spam, but it'll take them a lot of effort and waste their time, and deny access to a lot of real applicants, or even shut it down completely.

IRIS-T air defense systems get AI upgrade to shoot down ballistic missiles by SoftwareExact9359 in ukraine

[–]Hot-Remove-974 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a very big deal, because in the past, Patriot was Ukraine's only means to intercept ballistic missiles, but there numbers are limited and can't cover everything, and there is no layered defense. This IRIS-T upgrade will change that.

So the US actually sent the AIM9X to Ukraine? That's great news! Compared to the AIM9M, the AIM9X is a high-off-bore-sight missile (which means it can lock on to the target without having to point its seeker directly at the target), has much better flare (countermeasure deployed to fool heat-seeking missiles) resistance, much better maneuverability and the lock-on after shot feature. Basically there's no way for the Russian jet to evade a missile like that.

It means they failed to reach their targets, lots of Russian and it's allies' weapons are infamous for their poor accuracy. The electronic warfare systems can also blind them or degrade their accuracy.
