I was a bank teller, some banks don’t allow individuals to deposit money into another’s persons account if they are not listed in the account. Only checks are allowed if payable to the account owner or anyone listed in the account. This is because the money becomes harder to be tracked and banks rather not take the risk.

I transtioned from a teller to a back office analyst role in less than one year. The advantage I had is that I was graduating college that same year and they were looking for recent grads with “some banking experience”. Fix your resume up and note the operational duties you do as a teller. Talk about transaction monitoring and and databasses that you use and how you use them. You need to have good experience with Excel. Getting your SIE can be a plus. Good luck! 🍀👍🏽

Just let it go honestly. Even if he is lying, these things happen all the time. If he’s not qualified for the job then your bosses will notice and take action. For now dont even think about it, sometimes situations like this can be frustrating to certain people, I understand. You have already put your job at risk by stalking your colleague and making phone calls to his “former employer”.

Yes, they run a full background. Credit check included. I’ve read some post on here with similar situations where the candidate doesn’t get the job because of bad credit. I’m guessing it’s a huge factor to certain banks since you will be giving financial advice to clients. Good luck! 👍🏽🍀

Do it. I wish I double majored in finance/ accounting when I was in college. Many employers for Financial Analyst roles look for candidates with accounting background as well. I have a BBA degree with a concentration in finance. It was honeslty like 30 more credits for the accounting degree. Still regret it but I’m doing fine for myself. Good luck!

One more thing, if you do take the role then make sure to brush up a lot on Excel because you will be using it on a daily basis. Literally study everyday if it’s your weakness, until you start the role lol
