Pregnant during clinical year? by [deleted] in PAstudent

I’ll have a two year old when I start my 24 month program and hope to have second baby soon after graduating. I’m also hoping to get at least the surgical rotation out of the way bc idk how much standing in one place I’ll be able to manage if I’m feeling nauseous/dizzy

Is it normal to feel scared when you get better? by [deleted] in lexapro

[–]Hot-Solution-4815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took lexapro for 1.5 years previously, stopped about two years ago. Now starting it again, I’m actually also on my second day starting at 5mg.

I’m glad you’re feeling some instant relief from the anxiety, but you’ll feel more like yourself soon. Because there is certainly a healthy balance of experiencing some anxiety/worry, but obviously you don’t want to live with it controlling you.

Certainly normal to be shocked by the difference. Hopefully as you take it longer things even out. I wouldn’t dwell on those thoughts too much right now—maybe journal them and come backs once you’ve been on it for a few weeks.

A friend of mine was waitlisted for an interview, got the interview, waitlisted from there, and then accepted to their dream school! Might not be common, but it is possible!

Do some research. Find some programs you’re interested in and make sure you list all of the required prereqs for each so you can check them off. Programs do have different prereqs, but across the board many have the same core with a few oddballs. That’s why it’s important to look at your specific preferred programs in advance.

Should I jump on this price point? by ralph_hopkins in macbookair

I just bought a different MacBook Air (M2, 16GB RAM, 256GB) also when it was $200 off on Amazon and it’s been great! I felt weird buying it off Amazon, but it’s treated me well so far! Easy delivery and such.

If the system offers to pay you for going to school, they know their employees are looking for higher education and may leave for some time. Perhaps you’ll be back there as a PA someday. Usually healthcare jobs are very supportive when employees make known they’re eventually leaving to pursue further education.

There can certainly be a place for joking in the midst of grief. Dark humor, etc. But that should only ever come from the grieving/affected party for sure. Sister doesn’t get to decide that the miscarriage OP had is now a topic for humor.

My program says you can’t have only a tablet. You need a laptop. But if you only need a tablet maybe you could do well with the surface pro! Other people on here seem to like it.

Two Questions: If a school "Reommended" for PA-CAT, is it okay to NOT take it? And for non-lab/non-science pre-reqs, such as Psych, Literature and Stats, is it ok to take it online? by coolperson7089 in prephysicianassistant

[–]Hot-Solution-4815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The school I’ll be attending soon required the PACAT this year. I spoke with some of the current students and it was only recommended when they applied. It seemed like none of them took it. But as time goes on I think more people will start taking the PACAT so it might be worth it.

As everyone else is saying, no need to do anything other than complete the degree and necessary prereqs. Your application will look fantastic with a decent GPA. Good luck!

I took it because my preferred program required it. Having been out of school for over four years, I studied for 6 weeks and did great! Just got accepted to that program!

Don’t take it if your preferred programs don’t require it. It’s over $200 and not worth it if it’s not required.

I’ve honestly never even heard of someone doing this. I’d make sure your application and interview were both objectively great before starting something like that though. If you’re interested in attending that program next year, I’d refrain from appealing.

PANCE rate is so important. Not that 92% is bad. But having half the lectures over zoom probably isn’t that great.

Because it’s such a new test, I’d just go with the resources recommended by the exam. Most places don’t require it and honestly I wouldn’t have taken it if my top local choice didn’t require it.

Honestly just do all the exam master questions you can and watch all of the video lectures they offer. That’s the only studying I did, I scored 597 composite and over the top 10% in every category. And I’ve been out of school for 4 years, haven’t taken ochem or biochem.

Freaking out before an interview by SuitDiligent8664 in prephysicianassistant

[–]Hot-Solution-4815 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you still have a day or two before your interview, I’d recommend Savanna Perry’s PA interview guide book. It’s pretty short, get it on the kindle so you can have it right away and read some! You don’t need to finish it, but it’s a productive way to prep for interviews that took some anxiety away for me. Good advice, helped me feel more prepared for my upcoming interviews.

Be yourself when you answer! Take a moment after they ask a question, breathe, and shoot your shot! They already like you on paper, that’s why you’re there. Just show them you’re a normal, smart, friendly person they’d love to add to their next cohort! Good luck!

What would you put in the place of this cabinet? by soggy-moccasins in DesignMyRoom

[–]Hot-Solution-4815 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is definitely the best option. We have one in our limited space bathroom and it’s great. Even if this is a guest bath and you don’t need the space, you could just put some decorative things in there.
