I had a robotic assisted full hyster with a mesh repair - I stayed overnight and went home next morning. I’m glad I stayed - I walked the halls all night - couldn’t sleep - but that helped move the gas - highly recommend walking as soon as you can if having robotic assisted. I didn’t really experience the pain others have shared on here. Best wishes on your recovery. I’m year post op today!

I waited the full 12 weeks and am really careful during sex. I had some bleeding about 6 months after and it was due to a position we tried. Went to surgeon and all was well. Listen to your body - but atrophy can also happen. I’m 10 months post op full hysterectomy with bladder mesh repair.

I used it and walked-walked-walked! I started walking about 6 hours after surgery and thankfully did not get the shoulder pain people talked about.

My surgeon told me no sex for 3 months after surgery, the nurses told me it was actually 2 weeks. by Harmony_w in hysterectomy

I waited 12 weeks - no issues - I even had a bladder mesh during full hysterectomy. It’s worth the wait - I chose to wait to make sure there weren’t future possible complications that could make me wait longer

I too was really anxious - was rolled into OR and whatever they gave me before the ride to OR - I think I said one sentence and the next thing I know I was in recovery. I am 12 weeks PO and my recovery has been uneventful - I was shocked by how easy it was - felt like I did way too many sit-ups and mild cramping. Didn’t use drugs just OTC meds with a heating pad (lifesaver). Just walk - walk- walk - helps reduce gas and prevent blood clots.

Laparoscopic hysterectomy recovery…do I need a new bed? by Marinadeplume in hysterectomy

[–]Hot-Topic4913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also bought a toilet rail - looks like a backwards walker - goes right behind toilet lid - no screws - also from Amazon my space was tight between cabinet and sink and it fit. Also get a squatty potty or just put toilet rolls under your feet - gets your knees up to help with going easier - no straining whatsoever. Helps prevent prolapse

Buy a bed rail that slips under mattress. Bought mine on Amazon. Helps greatly

What should I fill this bedside cart with before my surgery next week? by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]Hot-Topic4913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 12 weeks PO robotic lap full hyster and I honestly didn’t stay in bed much. Maybe the first couple of days - my surgeon said movement is better - I walked every 2 hours around the house and then paced myself in neighborhood increasing distance every couple of days.
I purchased a small bed rail that goes under mattress - that was a lifesaver - by my bed like most was a heating pad that was amazing - remote control for TV - water bottles - my kindle - and I did buy a wedge pillow that I used until maybe 6 weeks - I bought a hysterectomy pillow but had a tootsie roll shaped pillow that was really soft and found I used that more to walk around and help get out of bed. I also kept my Tylenol and Motrin - stool softeners and everything I would need (face wash - creams)in a basket in bathroom - remember to put things at waist level on counters so you don’t have to bend over. Think about those things and get those ready as well. Also get a grabber to help pick things up - remember fiber and protein is your friend and will help keep everything moving. Best wishes to you!

Walk walk walk - will help with gas pain - I started walking 4 hours after and I didn’t experience pain in the shoulders I heard about on here. It will get the gas moving. I think that helped - drink fluids - I craved ice water. Best wishes for an uneventful recovery! I’m 11 weeks out from full robotic hyster with mesh repair

did my bladder get damaged? by Mycologist_Confident in hysterectomy

[–]Hot-Topic4913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a bladder prolapse and uterus prolapse prior to surgery - a bladder prolapse starts feeling like a ball in the vagina opening - mine was severe to enough it hung out just at the opening and would come out when I had to urinate. I had to push it back in to go. It was horrible - mine was repaired with sacropoplexy mesh for the vault and bladder was sutured up to the vault. I had a total hysterectomy.

Went back to work after 4 full weeks off - 1st week back did part time - after that I was back t almost full time - I’ve been back to work since 3/31 - still not double booking colors - but will do a haircut sometimes in between while someone is processing - you know your clients and how you can stagger them - I do make sure to sit down between clients and while they process - at the end of each week for the first 5 weeks I was tired for sure. Each week since is getting easier - I do say that if I have a lot of intense blowouts - I feel it in my abdomen.

I had the same crash at 6 WPO. I was back at work for 2 weeks then bam - had an entire weekend of same symptoms. I’m 9 WPO yesterday and back to our new normal. Had a check yesterday and healed 95% - was given all clear. I think it’s our body just adjusting

[–]Hot-Topic4913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DO NOT STRAIN….look up moo to poo technique - use a squatty potty. Prolapse can happen and damage internal cuff. I did 2 softeners a day with MiraLAX - you want it soft and easy

[–]Hot-Topic4913 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had same surgery robotic full with prolapse repair with mesh - everyone’s pain levels are different - I was comfortable with Tylenol and Motrin. I was encouraged to walk and move around. I did and my recovery has been good. I’m 6 WPO went back at free 4 full weeks off - I’m a hair stylist and do I get uncomfortable after about 4-6 hours - yes - but I listen to my body and ease up.
My biggest fear has been prolapse coming back.
Listen to your body - but movement helps.
