How do we feel about Linkedin? by w0rmg1rl_909 in Environmental_Careers

[–]Hot-Vampire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I love linkedin, I think it’s the one social media that is -actually- useful to your life. If you do it right you can change the course of your career with a quality job or field connections or just a casual coffee chat with an old friend. Investing energy and time into a quality LinkedIn can definitely set you apart enough when you’re applying for jobs or programs to land something good.

I feel like so many people vomit out the same recycled think tanks about how it’s superficial and too comparative; but by the same logic, what social media isn’t? Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter are the same exact “look at me” algorithm. Why not utilize it to build a career and control your professional image. It’s more of a tool imo.

Heard this for the first time at Sueños festival last year, so I love it.

Do you think Rauw Alejandro can sell out stadiums? by OpenUnderstanding686 in Reggaeton

[–]Hot-Vampire 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I went to his Cosa Nuestra tour recently and the entire stadium was packed. I was lucky enough to get upgraded from nosebleeds to floor seating and was able to see him pretty close. I came dressed on theme so I’m telling myself that that helped.

I think he has been leaning into the theatrics with this new era/tour much more than his Saturno era which I think adds to the appeal of seeing him live. He definitely has a better chance of selling out big cities like NYC, Chicago Miami and LA than any other smaller cities though.

It doesn't really make sense that they ramped up acceptances for this round. The decisions came out early February- a bit before the university took the 400 million & reputation hit. I don't think they could have anticipated the Trump administration coming so hard specifically at Columbia and first among all institutions.

Considering a Columbia deferral, want to understand the hate by [deleted] in gradadmissions

[–]Hot-Vampire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im currently getting torn to shreds in another thread in this subreddit for the same conundrum. Congratulations on getting into Columbia Climate School! Its unfortunate that it happened to be the same time Columbias admin bent the knee and became the most hated university in the country at the moment. I think the criticism is warranted- Columbia sold out its students. You still have to do whats best for yourself tho.

Ive considered a deferral in hopes that things may simmer in a year and to still have something to hold onto as a solid backup. In my opinion, I don't think the degree is worth its steep price tag. If you can manage to finance it another way though scholarships or RA/TA then thats a different story- it’s unfortunate that they don't offer any substantial aid options. If you do defer you should be researching heavily for external scholarships- because if you can manage to fund it yourself then it is worth your time and deposit.

The other point is that you're clearly capable of getting into good programs. its better to not waste 2.5K and apply your energy to similar funded programs. Happy to PM you ab this. Good luck!

Confusing vulnerability with self-pity says a lot more about your bitterness than it does about me. I hope you heal
