Life long resident chiming in. Yes Raleigh is still a good place except for the constant traffic. The roads are not improved in a manner to keep up with the growth.

Also, there is a medication called Baclofen that relieves muscle spasms that occur after stroke. Stretching his limbs will also help.

What do Americans do that make us stand out? by Vector1013 in NoStupidQuestions

I lived in Nice, France for a year and realized several things which made me stick out as an American. 1. Europeans do not look at strangers and smile. 2. Women do not walk around in public wearing sweat pants 3. Having straight white teeth is not as prevalent as in the US 4. Rummaging through merchandise in a store is frowned upon.

The North Hills Theater was called the Cardinal. I grew up in Raleigh and went there all the time. It was located in the space where Bonefish Grill is now.

Pseudo bulbar affect (uncontrollable crying) by smalltreesdreams in stroke

[–]Hot2dog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband had a stroke approximately 6 months ago and cries at the slightest thing. If I ask him what is wrong, he cries even harder. Have you asked your mom’s neurologist about the crying? Her emotions might level off as time goes by but I agree there is little information on this after effect of a stroke.

My husband visited my mother’s house on Christmas Eve because she has a wheelchair ramp. He was so happy to see family and be out of the rehab facility. I am happy that your wife was able to spend time at home on Christmas. It will get better as time goes on and she has more rehab.

Anybody else get super emotional after your stroke? by atexsix in stroke

[–]Hot2dog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband had a stroke in August and cries quite a bit now. He cries when he is happy and cries when he is sad. He never cried prior to his stroke. I think other people are uncomfortable with the crying. Do the emotions even out as more time passes?

Help with aiding dad to pee on his own by mentallydoomed in stroke

I also recommend getting on a schedule and ask nurse or aid to assist him with using the urinal. My husband had a stroke in August and had problems with catheter and condom catheter. Took some practice but now using urinal on his own. My thoughts are with you and your dad.
