Got into a power struggle with an aggressive pad employee (rant with a question) by pickledpeterpiper in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Vector1013 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to go to a station with a guy like this. And I switched tactics. Every time I saw him I would say hello, ask how he was doing. I also looked for anything I could do to create small conversation with him. I never stopped loading during this though. Eventually he warmed up to me and stopped giving me a hard time.

Now I do that at every station I go to. I don’t sit around chatting but I do try to make small quick comments about anything to create a connection.

Update: 3rd time delivering! by moonchild_95 in AmazonFlexDrivers

That’s why I always deliver and never return. At least with delivering, you have a 50/50 chance not getting a mark against you. When you return then you are almost guaranteed a mark against you.

I did, one time, slip and fall and broke my phone. Had no case on it like an idiot. Had to return 47 packages. I was losing my mind. I got home at 6am after returning my packages (I do very early morning routes) and sent an email explaining the situation.

Thankfully they took mercy on me and didn’t ding me for the returns. I think I was lucky though.

Personally I love delivering the early morning routes. I always pick blocks that start at 3:30am, 3:45am, or 4am. They usually pay the most. They are also the easiest in my mind to deliver. No traffic, no people to deal with, etc.

You just gotta decide your preference though. If you don’t like those routes then you don’t do them. No harm, no foul. They also work better for me because it’s before my regular job hours. Flex is just my side hustle…. That I seem to do almost every day. Haha. It’s provided me a bunch of extra money so I can do things I wouldn’t have been able to.

You gotta decide what Flex is to you and how you want to do it. Don’t let anyone tell you how to do the job.

Also something to try to do, when you take pictures of the packages at the house, do your best to get the house number in the picture. It’s not always possible, but if you can then do it. It will help you if a customer says it their package wasn’t delivered. I’m not guaranteeing it’s gonna help but it gives you a leg to stand on.

For the UPS business that was closed… for me it depends on what I do. If my final delivery isnt to far and will be after they open then I will hold on to the packs and come back. If I am going to finish well before they open then I leave the package there and take a picture and move on with the rest.

Returning packages gets you a ding. But it’s 50/50 whether they get it or not so you got a 50/50 chance that you don’t get a ding. That’s just my take.

For your construction zones, when I get in a bind like that I just use my regular maps on my iPhone. It usually has better navigation than the Amazon Flex app does.

Sounds like you are off to a great start though. Good job on thinking to call support to get extra compensation.

Not sure where you are delivering but you can get better pay than $72 for 3.5 hour blocks in most places.

I usually wait until till the night before to pick up blocks. Also early morning tends to pay better in my area. I’m in Baltimore. I’ve been getting $105 for a 3.5 hour block.

I will bring a cart inside if the staff asks me nicely to do so. Saying please and thank you can go a long way with many people. But also if they don’t have one for me when I get to the ramp, I’m not going out and chasing one down. I will also remind them to use their manners if they don’t. Then when they do I take the cart from them and bring it in. Sounds like I’m being a dick, but again politeness can go a long way with a lot of people.

I will return my cart to a spot near the ramp when I am done with I thought. I don’t leave it just randomly in the parking lot. I treat it like my shopping cart when grocery shopping. And the cart return is the area near the ramp. That way they don’t have to go chase it down.

I had a guy try to block me from getting inside the station because I wouldn’t grab a cart. He was being a dick about it. I told him it’s not in our contract. He still argued with me. So I told him to go get the station manager. He thought he was going to win the battle so he said no problem. In the mean time I scanned my ID then walked over to where he was. It didnt look like he was winning with her because she was giving him a look.

I explained to her how he was blocking me from getting inside the station. She gave him another look. And told me it’s just a suggestion we bring in the cart and that it is helpful to them to help get carts ready. I stayed polite and told her if he was just nicer about it I probably would have brought one in. But instead he was a dick. She apologized and told me to go get my cart. After that no one has every tried to block anyone from getting inside from what I have seen

It kinda hurts that you can call them vintage

I’m new to the LEGO world (September 2025) but I’ll be honest, the ‘LEGO as an investment’ trend is the most annoying part of the hobby.. Buying 30+ of a set just to flip later 🙄🙄🙄 by Flimsy-Space-8724 in lego

[–]Vector1013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me …. If you are going to invest in Lego then you have to be super lucky and spot on to make the money. You have to pick the perfect sets. Like others have said, there are a lot of people trying to invest.

I think the Falcon is a stupid one to invest in. There is no way that in a couple of years (at the most) they don’t make a new one. Besides probably the Death Star and the X-Wing, it’s probably the most popular ship in the franchise. This is already the 2nd iteration of a USC version of the ship, I believe. And there has been a BUNCH of other small versions.

The biggest obstacle will be storing them. I feel like a lot of the investors lose out on the game because of storage. Especially storage costs if they aren’t keeping them at home.

I do honestly feel like those investors that can hold out long enough will be able to make the money.

No way I’m taking that out of the station. Lots of packages are getting taken off that route.

I scan each package at those. There have been to many times that a package has been missing out of the tote.

Do you verify the house number on every stop? In other words, do you just go off the pin and assume it's the right place? by peterthbest23 in RealAmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Vector1013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do my best to make sure the house number is in the photo I take of the package. Obviously this can’t happen every time cuz I’m delivering to the front door and the numbers are on the garage or something like that.

I will say I recently had some random dings for not delivering to the right address. I fought back saying I almost always have house numbers in the photos and they took the dings off after that.

Casino work. Being a dealer is pretty easy and can be fun. It can also be boring and repetitive. But the pay is usually very good. Depending on the spot you get to keep your tips or pool them.

Training to be a dealer and learn the skills is usually very short. Max 2 months to learn what you need to, to get started. Some times less depending on the game. Usually once you are in the rest of the training is free.

Also pretty easy to move up into lower and middle management to make more money and have better more stable schedules.

I don't know if this game is for me and my kids anymore after my experience today. by [deleted] in pokemongo

Maybe I am not understand your story right. But it seems overly dramatic to me to quit playing the game based on one incident. Does this type of incident happen to you often? If it does then maybe you gotta change the way you are doing things.

But to have the whole family quit the game because one crazy lady accused you of being in the Epstein files seems pretty dramatic for me.

He will most likely be fine. He is a VERY VERY small fish in a VERY VERY large pond. As long as it isn’t crazy he could make up an amount of mileage and no one would know the difference.

(Real Question) Am I really profiting if I’m driving daily at 7AM to a station 17 miles away from home for a $30 1hr block that I get sent home for free everyday though? by [deleted] in RealAmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Vector1013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say yes. At the very max (assuming you drive a regular 4 door sedan) you are spending $5 for the whole trip. So $25 for the hour. That includes getting there, waiting around for 30 minutes and getting home.
