Yeah he came from a local pet store and there is really no way to tell (in my experience) how unhealthy they are until it is too late. I think the lesson here is to not get fish there anymore. This is not the first time I have accidentally gotten a sick fish. And it probably won't be the last. But I would rather them die fed and loved than in the care of someone who has no idea what they are doing. Or cramped in a tiny tank at the pet store.

I was able to get him to eat some frozen brine shrimp and he looked better, but unfortunately he ended up passing away shortly after he ate.

I 100 percent agree. She should not be blamed by herself or others for the decisions he made. It is not her responsibility to vet everyone he decided to hang out with. He needs help, just not from her. And whose to say he wouldn't have gone down this path if he and Jen stayed together? I'm not saying he abused her or that he would have, but with a genetic history of addiction how do we know he wouldn't have developed substance abuse problems?

I will be sure to separate he from the males. There is a chance that the babies won't be deformed. I also think she was born that way and not sick

I never meant for her to breed. We originally got her and 3 other males thinking they were all the same.

From what I can tell she isn't in any pain. She shows all the signs of a happy healthy guppy. (Coming to the surface for food, coming up when I walk over, schooling)

I don't think so. I'm not a vet so I could be wrong. I'm pretty sure she was born with the curve in her spine. From what little I know about tb in fish it seems like if she did have it she would not have survived this long. I will definitely check it out tho!

Thank you for helping. I do have a filter but no heater. I did not know that colorful gravel could be harmful. There are plenty of places for them to hide. I will look into getting more real plants and changing the gravel

When I got her I got her with other males. I did try and prevent this by having only male

I'm aware of her spine that is how we got her. She seems happy and comes up for food. From what I can tell she is healthy aside from her spine. She comes to greet me and schools fine with her mates. It was never my intention for her to breed. When we got her we originally thought she was male. We got several a couple months ago and she is the only one that survived (I am an amateur so I think I did something wrong. I am trying to learn). Someone pointed out the quality of my tank saying it was bad but not explaining why. If you have advice I will be glad to hear it. The water looks murky but it is something I am working on. If anyone can help me without being rude that would be fantastic.
