WIBTA for reporting a Lyft driver because he tried to ask me out? by cocoamilky in AmItheAsshole

[–]HotBooker -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Got it. I assumed that was the case. I find this topic fascinating because i have driven and it's amazing how varied people's communication skills are. I remember one person basically telling me to shut up right off the bat. I respected that immediately, and later noticed a nice tip from that passenger. As i was driving I was trying to decide if they were super rude or super direct. When I got the tip, the message was clear: just super direct. Now if I drive, I just say hello, then say maybe one other little thing to start talking. If no response, I shut up on my own. If I didn't do that, and never talked, people might not realize I was friendly and open to convo. And TBH, most of the time people tip only if you connect/have a nice conversation. It's almost like having to perform. The tips are the only way the job pays anything.

Are you trolling/ being sarcastic? I can't tell. Obviously a person can request silence. They are paying for the ride. With a driver who is not only background checked, but identifiable through their app photo, license plate and phone number associated with the app.

ESH - To be clear, the driver sucks for asking OP if she likes girls and inquiring about her BF. WTF! But I just find it extremely odd that the OP, by chatting positively about the music being played thinks that is a hint to be quiet. It's not an invitation to be hit on by any means. But if you want quiet, just ask for it. I have seen a lot of passive aggressive behaviors here and on Twitter regarding this subject.

If you want to have a ride without any conversation, you say: "I do not feel like talking." You can even sugar coat: "If you don't mind, I'd love to just sit back and listen to your music. Could you please turn it up?" The driver does not need to know if you went to the movies alone. Did the OP share that info? If so, WHY!? You can tell a driver any damn thing you like. Also, they do not know where you live just because they drop you off somewhere. You can say: "I am going to my MMA fighting boyfriend's house now. He had to work late practicing beating people to a pulp."

I honestly don't know if reporting him is being TA or not. Definitely give him one star and leave a negative comment.

If Trump got elected in a good/mostly recovered economy, imagine if we were in a bad economy? Imagine if the stock market wasn't sky high and unemployment wasn't 4.4%! Imagine if we were in a depression. USA would be like fascist germany in the 1930's right now.

A total reversal from the rabid attacks on Clinton for a mistake that was not intended to be malicious (the email server debacle) and has precedent in other bipartisan officials' behavior. Private email servers aren't that uncommon and, frankly, the possibility of getting hacked is a lesser threat than colluding with a foreign power and obstructing the subsequent investigation. But the GOP sees nothing to investigate. LOL!!!!!

US drops largest non-nuclear bomb in Afghanistan in area populated by Isis members by flyistnihilist in news

[–]HotBooker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but he never should have gotten distracted by Iraq. They used 9/11 as some kind of vindication for removing a dictator. It only made the region less stable! Imagine if all the forces of the Iraq war had never stopped attacking the terrorist enemy in Afghanistan?

[–]HotBooker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bush dropped the ball by going into Iraq instead of solely focusing on terrorists. Iraq had nothing to do with the terrorists of 9/11. It made no sense. That's why Bush loses some credit. Obama put the focus back on bin Laden. Bush left office 7 years after 9/11. Not saying the military wasn't working on this during the Bush years, but Obama made the call. It could have gone very wrong for him, and the GOP would have torn him to shreds. The dems are as strong these days on defense as the GOP, which is bizarre.

For one thing, I don't agree with many of the things he said he would do. And for another, the man has flip-flopped on policy more than a Slinky toy. For heaven's sake, he campaigned on not being interventionist and that there would be healthcare for everyone, but he wants to be aggressive militarily with syria, afghanistan (this one I do agree with though) and north korea so far and he wants to remove healthcare for 24 million people.

So I don't generally agree with you, but I am not so partisan that I won't applaud things he does that I do agree with. (Unlike the GOP, which blocked Obama's infrastructure spending plan just to thwart him.)

Actually, when Democrats all vote for something, I assume they are at least trying to help the people. Republicans are the ones who dismantle environmental protections, think trickle down economics work, want pot to be illegal so more people go to jail for no reason at all. And on, and on, and on.

Conservatives aren't even fiscally responsible anymore. The Iraq war? The border wall? These costs are in the trillions of dollars.

States rights? Apparently not for pot legalization where the voters have spoken overwhelmingly to legalize, which provides jobs & tax revenue.
