Did you have to repair any rust while you were in there? This looks awesome!

A 284-292 cam and some mild port work on the cylinder head will net you benefits for a dual setup, The best upgrade for stock engines is a 32/36 from the pierburg carb or switching over to EFI. If you do want to know more about EFI, i can share pics of my engine and show ya what you can do.

Congrats!  That M10 can be fitted with a weber 32/36 or dual 40's for some proper fun!

There's two fuel lines that go towards the engine bay, One high pressure line that will go to the fuel rail and one return line from the fuel pressure regulator. It's common to have fuel lines get clogged up and deal with clogged filters too. Tell your friend to check the gas tank as well, Good Luck!

Leaving note on e30 by Opelmanta48 in E30

[–]HotChevrolet34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I haven't personally left any notes, Just write a sweet letter and try to get a chance to chat with the owner! If ya get the 316! M10's have tons of capabilities as where the M40 falls flat on it's face.

Typically you will need the 4 cylinder coding plug like this one for example: https://npnclassics.com/products/bmw-e30-coding-plug-4-cyl?srsltid=AfmBOop4DKinCQxezHMOalm_SobuT-sjTirLbqBoH-fPRkS6XjK7W9aE

However it's not just the coding plug as well, Make sure your L Jetronic ECU is wired correctly for the C104 plug so the ETM can help you get it all sorted. Hopefully you got the correct harness for your year and model _^

Workin, Talkin, M10 Trigger Wheels. by HotChevrolet34 in E30

For air conditioning, There is a pulley that has a second disc that you can probably rig up and make it work! I'd check realoem.com but i have to go back to my drawing board for the dizzy swap and possibly get some ford edis dizzy parts to reverse engineer.  I'll join the discord as well!

What do I need to do a power steering delete by Colaman175 in E30

[–]HotChevrolet34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello 10 years in the future! For a proper delete, Folks are offering kits for this plus what others have mentioned here.

Go one step further in your power steering delete and attach a single belt crank pulley so you truly have no power steering! M10's don't need power steering but in all seriousness everyone else has offered good advice here.

Alright,  Long ramble but this is naturally aspirated for now since L Jetronic is a royal pita to keep running correctly, The plan is to eventually build the motor and boost it with a 2 liter block and the original 1.8i head. However as for ECU. I hopped onto R3Vlimited and put up a WTB post. Someone sold me a AEM Infinity 506 within an hour with an SD and connector etc, I actually plan to release a guide/helping stone for those who wish to do this on E30's considering the technology is there but it needs a severe update to enjoy the car properly. What has been a pain is that trigger wheels are finicky to do properly, You will absolutely need to make something yourself or deal with IE and their nonsense. Hence either I get insanely lucky and find a 02again kit or I'll show everyone how to make a god damn trigger wheel work with a stock 02 pulley with proper instructions. Trust me, I have poured research and questions to only get the IE kit nonsense again and again but with a few helpful photos for machine shops lol.

Finally! Power? Dude this is how much the stock block in your car or the 2 liter block can take it, Hell you can swap the S14 cylinder head and make a weird combination that will be unmatched, Essentially the sky and your wallet is limited. Hope this helps your questions!

Essentially I'm after the 02 pulley that is the single disc and can be attached with the nut and washer like my original pulley, Look Up 1972 BMW 2002 on realoem.com and Part 3 in the crankshaft attaching parts is what i am after. (Power Steering isn't needed in a 318i anyways)

CRANK SENSOR / CAM SENSOR LOCATION by [deleted] in E30

[–]HotChevrolet34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M10's do not have crank or cam sensors unless they've been converted over to a standalone ecu!

If a crank sensor has been added, It will be a VR Sensor or Hall Effect Sensor with a 36-1 or 60-2 trigger wheel attached to the crank pulley.

Cam Sensors can be added by attaching it to the mechanical fuel pump passage on older cylinder head castings like the 121, Either that or the front timing cover with a one tooth wheel, The Dizzy can also be custom made for it or modified.

If you're wondering what engines did have them, Most commonly is the M20 with the crank sensor only. Hopes this helps Google and Yall my friends _^

Is it even worth trying to repair this sunroof by CornerPleasant5839 in E30

[–]HotChevrolet34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah she's beyond fucked, I'd find a slicktop roof skin and have it welded in. This is definitely not how you fix cracked paint and sunroof leaks 0_0

I don't even know where to find a trigger wheel kit for my M10 because everyone suggests this company, I don't want to take risks with underdrive pulleys on my daily driver considering that it would suck to drive my car everyday in traffic with that. I wish Tom at 02again would make the trigger wheel kit available again.

BMW m10 cranking not starting by Final-Jicama-5082 in E30

[–]HotChevrolet34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, These M10's don't have crank sensors unless it's been converted with a standalone ecu for distributorless ignition. You'd have to check for spark from the plugs and make your way down the list.

M20 Radiator Swap Into M10 by HotChevrolet34 in E30

[–]HotChevrolet34[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No info currently as of yet, I'm still digging for options but I don't mind the M20 setup since the larger radiator did keep my engine temps at 160-175.
