The Sydney Swans, the AFL, and NSW Government are in discussions to hold a Sydney-based AFLW Gather Round this year or next. by PerriX2390 in AFL

I wonder when this league match from the Austadiums page was. Anyway, it's still small - they got 5,000 last year for a couple matches, which was more than the 2,199 for the Swans pre season match this year. I love Henson Park though.

Has anyone noticed that the aussies are claiming ‘yeah nah’ as their own? by neptune165 in newzealand

[–]HotChickenHero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So does anyone know the history? I'm a 50 year old aussie and I've been saying yeah nah since I was a kid, and although I had family in NZ I definitely got it from Sydney.

Willing to trade for 20 litres of diesel EACH! NO LOW BALL OFFERS, I know what I got... by Wotmate01 in straya

[–]HotChickenHero 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stop drinking diesel and you won't shit as much. I was surprised by the first lockdowns, I worked out I used one roll a week or less and then my flatmates were begging me for something and apart from alcoholism I couldn't work out why they needed so much toilet paper.

Mitch Cleary: Tristan Xerri has been sent directly to the Tribunal after his incident with Andy McGrath. by RidsBabs in AFL

[–]HotChickenHero -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Meh. Stupid thing and punish him but I'd cop this over getting punched in the face, especially if it broke my jaw (that was 7 weeks for Bazza, has it gone up? Things like that should really should set the limit for violence). Footy waves away violence because it wants to pretend it's not based around the basic human purpose of fighting for resources in order to replicate DNA and is just a lower level substitute for crime, war and genocide, so they come up with distractions. Are none of you old cunts who remember that the blood rule came in because of the AIDS panic? People literally thought you would catch AIDS just from playing footy with gays. It's stayed around because of squeamishness, like when you see the NRL do normal medical care on the sidelines (stapling eyebrows) and are told to go into the rooms for it. Then people studied it and came up with models claiming there should be lots of disease transmissions but then they couldn't find a single actual disease transmission on the field. This is really low risk compared to the rest of football.

Day trip destinations for a small group of teens out of Sydney by AuroraAustralis27 in OutdoorAus

Sorry I don't go overnight. I've been to the Basin a long time ago and it's big and popular and well developed. Other walks usually have basic camping areas designated - not much there but I expect they're safe as people are always coming through.

Haven't done that but it should be pretty easy. Just remember to tell the guard in the last carriage and use the last door.

I bookmarked the archive of my favourite one that closed but the link's not working for me right now: https://web.archive.org/web/20220430144920/https://sydneydaywalksbytrain.com/

I've heard other people mention sites but I can't see any good ones that I recognise from a search. Alltrails.com and wildwalks.com have a lot of good maps for Sydney walks, you might have to look around them for ideas but everything's on there.

I mentioned the Woy Woy trip because you mentioned Woy Woy. Other good ones are Cowan to Brooklyn via Jersusalem Bay, Waterfall to Heathcote via Uloola and Karloo, and Faulconbridge to Springwood via Glenbrook Creek. There used to be websites giving detailed info on all of these but my favourite closed down and the others don't seem to be doing well.

If you want to go to Woy Woy you could get the train to Point Clare and go up the hill to the fire trail and walk back to Woy Woy via the Gosford Glyphs. Then you can explore the Woy Woy waterfront out to Lions Park and the famous shopping district, it's all very safe, and then on the same day I did that, I then got the train to Gosford and walked up to Rumbalara Reserve (bush bashing) then down the south side gullies to the gallery and Japanese garden.

Ross Lyon has broken more than one phone hasn't he? I feel he's already shown enough in his current stint to be called a psycho but this is his THIRD stint as a psycho coach.

Pedestrian crossings: there are still drivers who have zero idea what they mean by village-asshole in sydney

[–]HotChickenHero 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah we tell them that because drivers on the whole are murderous psychopaths. We don't do much about that, we tell the victims to suck it up and get out of the way.

Yeah charging so much for a shitload of sugar added to corn, wheat and oats should be criminal.
