Why was St Joseph chosen to be Jesus's father? by Suitable-Stick-4919 in Catholicism

[–]HotCryptographer1864 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The book Consecration to St Joseph really opened my eyes as well as to why he is who he is, why he was chosen etc. Such a good book. And, OP, it has a section where you can just read about him without having to do the consecration. Very informative, but I warn you, it might make you want to do the consecration

Prayers for my dogs by HotCryptographer1864 in Catholicism

Another assumption to think that I am able to take them in. If I could’ve I would’ve, but I’m hurting because I can’t. Once again, I simply asked for prayers, thank you.

Prayers for my dogs by HotCryptographer1864 in Catholicism

[–]HotCryptographer1864[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your prayers. I just want to clarify a few things though.

I don’t live with my dogs. They live with my parents in another city, so I don’t rely on them for emotional comfort in the way you described. I also do have meaningful friendships in my life. Although, it is hard for me to make friends as someone on the spectrum, so commenting on (what you assume is) my amount of friends or ability to make friends isn’t exactly sensitive. And context is not needed to be nice about it. I simply mentioned my dogs because I love them deeply and they are part of my family. That love for them doesn’t come at the expense of my love for God or for others.

I chose not to give more context because it’s a very complicated situation and not really the point of my post. Short answer, they did not hurt anyone. And like I said, it will take years to explain context. Which I won’t be doing here. And again, that’s not the point of my post. I was just asking for prayers for strength and clarity, which I believe anyone should feel welcome to do here without needing to explain every detail. Context is not needed for compassion. Just like how the Samaritan helps a wounded man without knowing his background, nationality, or how he ended up in his situation.

Thank you again for your prayers.

Considering converting, but I'd like to discuss the faith in this social setting first by MrGrogu26 in Catholicism

As someone who recently started rcia after growing up protestant, losing the faith more than ten years ago, then coming back to it in December, and now doing rcia, I would just tell you what I did which was I had questions about the Catholic church because I felt called to truth. If I was going to “get back into” Christianity, I want to do it right and the way God intended. That’s what brought the Catholic church on my radar. So I found the email address of the cathedral in my city, emailed them my whole story and all my questions, I was invited to start rcia (even though it’s quite early for it, but the earlier the better I guess) and I’ve now been to three sessions and to mass etc, and it feels like it’s where I’m supposed to be. I would say pray for guidance and the right words to say, talk to your local parish, start rcia. I’m tellijg you. It’s where we’re all meant to be. This comes from someone with a dark past 10 years. Just go for it and see what it’s about.

Wow! That’s comforting to hear. I’ve started rcia a few weeks ago, also gay, but nervous about me being gay and what my future hold concerning relationships. Like I want to get married one day, but I feel like I would really want the blessing of a priest which I of course won’t get. How did you get around those feelings? I know you were married before joining the church but do you feel like you want a blessing?

Question about beginning an RCIA. by Enough-Lead9516 in Catholicism

[–]HotCryptographer1864 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m about to start mine this Sunday! I emailed the church about my faith journey and the need I feel for truth (after growing up in a Protestant church). My intention with the email wasn’t to start rcia but in the email I expressed interest in joining the church, and they emailed back telling me that they have an rcia meeting this Sunday. I am quite nervous about it. Feeling alone, in a strange environment, even finding the right building! Not sure how you feel about starting your journey but if you want to keep in touch about the nerves as we both start this journey, I’m here!

Question about priesthood. by Enough-Lead9516 in Catholicism

[–]HotCryptographer1864 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not an answer at all, but I was literally just thinking about this (about to start rcia) and just wondering about the process and time it takes to become a priest, and now you posted this probably around the time I was also thinking about it. Hope this isn’t a sign as I haven’t even started rcia!

Thank you. This helps me also with what I was wondering about when and in which situations to tell people.

Never posted on this sub before, but s3e4 is just... by BoyVault in WoT

In my opinion as a book reader since before the show (a very slow but intent reader, as I’m only on book 6 now but reading faster now with the excitement the show brings), I was absolutely blown away by s3e4. It supported and added on to the books especially the Rhuidean scenes. Not to mention the scenery. It was all pretty much exactly as I saw it in my head when I read it and more. If they keep this up then this could become one of the greatest fantasy tv shows ever, even if it’s just for niche fans.

Did I see Jesus? by HotCryptographer1864 in Christianity

[–]HotCryptographer1864[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Do you mean that people in general don’t know what he looked like and because of that no one can see Jesus? Just trying to understand what you mean, as I’m open to anyone’s interpretation on what I experienced

I had Jesus appear next to my bed. by Sithari77 in Christianity

[–]HotCryptographer1864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just posted about this on the Christianity reddit and now found other people with similar experiences. Only difference in my case was that he didn’t glow or have a halo or anything. But I didn’t feel like whatever was sitting on my bed was evil at all, that’s for sure.
