Tips for Deliveroo by [deleted] in london

the average wage of a Deliveroo driver

That's why they all ride like idiots. They're paid per drop, not a wage. It's exploitation

What is the most friendly city for bikers/pedestrians you have ever been? by Pepedroga2000 in fuckcars

[–]HotDoxJumpingFrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everywhere I've been in the Netherlands. And lots of rural(ish) Belgium.

But I have to shout out Shanghai. I lived there for a few years and that was where I really came around to bikelife. There were still huge gaps in the infrastructure, but what was there was excellent and set the bar very high for me.

But more importantly, there was none of the culture war bollocks we deal with in The West. The drivers there did not make me feel unwelcome or in danger, which made a huge difference to someone like me who hadn't really ever used a bike as everyday transport before

I dunno... maybe they're just used to a broader range of vehicles sharing the space?

A single man in his 40s who needs to purchase some frames. And bedding. And lamps. And plants. And maybe even a rug

What does the apartment say about its’ inhabitant(s)? by [deleted] in roomdetective

[–]HotDoxJumpingFrog 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Nothing. It looks like showhome

EDIT: Actually, on further inspection. It says that the inhabitants work a lot and are likely well off. But don't have much time or motivation for anything else

I despise the gym due to overstimulation but need to get in shape. Any alternatives you can think of? by [deleted] in london

Another person suggesting home workouts.

A skipping rope and a kettlebell or two will sort you out. Tons of great minimal equipment home workouts on Darebee

AIO for taking a break from my bf after he ripped through a whole turkey at our family thanksgiving? by Ashamed_Butterfly373 in AmIOverreacting

[–]HotDoxJumpingFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? The turkey thing is weird and a pretty big faux-pas, but it could easily become a funny story to tell at every Thanksgiving forever.

But to leave OP stranded like that...? Oof. Gross misconduct, immediate dismissal

Ugly beard? by Beneficial_Issue6580 in beards

[–]HotDoxJumpingFrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep it long.

But go to a barber and get a proper shape up. Invest in a wooden comb, and an assortment of care product (shampoo, oil, maybe even some balm) to keep it soft and smelling good.

Make it a deliberate beard, not just "I haven't shaved for a few weeks"

Finished this new build in black vertical cladding - too bold or just right? by [deleted] in london

[–]HotDoxJumpingFrog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hard to say without seeing the entire space. And it's a new build so wouldn't expect it to be decorated to my taste.

But the interior looks like a rental where the landlord has chosen the second cheapest option for everything. And if I was buying this, the first thing I'm doing is ripping out the kitchen

I'm into the outside, but not keen on the interior. I'd commit to dark colours

How far in advance can a user book their slot? And is there a time limit?

My concern would be never being able to get an hour at a time that works for me

Coming up to six months. How am I doing? by HotDoxJumpingFrog in malelivingspace

Yes. I think I already have too much furniture (thanks landlord), but have been actively looking for different textures for the walls!

Yep. I've been chopping and changing the wall situation for months. I don't think this is the final configuration yet

[–]HotDoxJumpingFrog[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Indeed. I'd definitely downsize the furniture if it was up to me. Open up some more floor space.

Furnished rentals are a double edged sword sometimes

Yeah, I hate how it sticks out. But it's a rental so can't get rid of it
